Lots of European contestants this year apparently. Looks like it is going the same way as BGT.

I am talking about the series in general, not last nights show. There is a lady from Finland taking part this evening, and quite a few more to follow on later in the series. I thought the idea of the show is to find new British talent, but maybe that has changed.
I certainly did, and this is why I am asking the question. The show seems to have opened its door to everyone now which makes it redundant as far as looking for British talent is.

The show has always had foreigners on, an obvious example being Ruth Lorenzo
There are lots more coming on throughout the auditions. Funny how they struggle to find talent with a population of 60m.
Tbh I'm not bothered, if they are great singers and they can share they talent with us why now? I'd rather a talented woman from Finalnd who I love than yet another """cute""" 20 year old with a generic haircut, barely there vocals and a guitar.

She has been on more reality tv shows than I have had hot dinners. The idea of the show is to find new talent, and not re-hashed talent from overseas.
Or to give European talent its breakthrough chance on Brit TV. What's wrong with that. This young woman has a voice that's light years ahead of the rest of these people on X-Factor.
That seems to say more about the UK than the producers of X-Factor.
The problem is they are taking the place of what could be talented artists from the UK. If they want to fly in act from here, there and everywhere, then change the name of the show to Euro Factor and have done with it.
The idea of the show, really, is to find an act that Simon can make money from. He won't mind where they come from if they're bringing home the cash.
You are most probably right, unfortunately.
"The X Factor" doesn't say anywhere in its title that its strictly for British contestants though. As a British viewer, I would've rather watched Ruth over Eoghan in 2008, Ethan over Lloyd in 2009 and 4th Impact over Che last year. In fact, Ruth and 4th Impact are two of my favourites ever.
It it results in higher standard of acts, then I'm for it. It's called a TV talent show, not a UK national pride show (there are plenty of other places where that would be appropriate).
If people prefer watching a show full of overseas talent then fair enough, but not for me. I want to see UK talent having the chance to make progress, and other countries have their own version of the show anyway.
