Freeview+ vs Freesat+

Hi

I live in an area that seems to have a decent freeview signal and want to get rid of Sky. I have an existing sat dish with two inputs and am out of contract. So I am torn between the freeview & the freesat routes.

Given that the freesat box I would need would cost over £100 more than a freeview box that does exactly the same:

vs

Apart from Dave, is it really worth the extra cost to go to freesat over freeview?

Thanks in advance!

David

As to what's better is down to personal choice so have a look at each of the channel offerings and see what you best like the look of.
Freeview offers up to 50 channels and 24 radio channels.

Freesast offers around 192 channels at this time.

Thanks, My assumption was that this (channel choice) was the basis to make the choice on, but it was always possible that there were other factors I wasn't aware of.

If you watch sport on ITV4 get freesat.

The picture quality on freeview is extremely poor on that and many other channels.

I also find that Freesat offers a crisper picture (useful for recording as well) and it is likely that more free to air and free to view channels will be joining Freesat at some stage whereas Freeview broadcast space is relatively restricted in comparison.

Thanks for this. My mums old freeview plus has packed up.

I had a look in currys but the boxes were all around the £200 mark

It was a Panasonic. This one here would be ideal for her and she s now able to tape two different programmes at the sametime - something that came up surprising often.

Will just take her 6 or 7 months to get used to it lol. :D

Thanks guys. I'm going to go freesat for the reasons people have posted here. Just trying to decide on the right box now :)

Why not have both, even if it is just a cheap Freeview STB and a Freesat PVR....
Best of both worlds and more channels to chose from................
