Sinister - Fairy well executed horror film that's brought down by uninteresting characters.

Free Samples [2012]. Director: Jay Gammill

    7/10

Quirky indie comedy with sharp dialogue and a notable performance from Jess Weixler, who's in every scene.

Started watching 'The Goonies' with my grandchildren, but after 20 minutes we'd all had enough of it. Put 'The Witches' on instead, which everyone enjoyed.

    This Is England (2007)

Hard hitting film with a mix of humour and seriousness, as well as some shocking scenes.

    Awesome soundtrack

Oculus - Good ideas and decent scares but overall a film like this has been done better before (The Shining). Biggest problem for me was Karen Gillan. Maybe it's just me not being able to keep up but I had to rewind half a dozen scenes because she kept talking too fast. She was like this on Doctor Who as well.

    Ender's Game (2013)

Not bad. Reminded me a bit of Starship Troopers.

For some reason the weediness of the actor playing Ender bothered me but maybe that's faithful to the book.

Been ringing you up as well, has he? :D A well-deserved 8/10 from me too.

    Frozen

Solid, enjoyable Disney kiddie-fare, with a fair degree of artistry amidst all the 'message' stuff. Does it justify the stratospheric takings? Dunno, but there's one humdinger of a showtune in there. Let it go...let it go... 7.5/10

    Sex, Lies and Videotape

Low budget eighties sensation that put Steven Soderbergh on the map.

Sterling work from the cast and director, but the script is as dated as it gets. 6/10
