Awesome films from our childhood we may have forgotten

So my little boys off school for the holidays and hes got a tummy bug, so I was thinking of showing him some films that I loved as a kid.
Ive gone through the obvious ones like The Goonies and Flight of the Navigator, Labyrinth etc, even the He-Man and She-Ra christmas special, but Ive ran out of ideas.

Anybody recommend anything awesome?

Honey I Shrunk the Kids. I showed this to my class of 7 year olds on the last day of term before Christmas. Not one of them wanted to watch it, voting instead for Alvin and the Chipmunks despite having already seen it, so I made them watch this. I've never seen them so transfixed by a film. Not a word, not even much fidgeting at all, which is hard for a 7 year old to do for 2 hours. But they absolutely loved it. Highly recommended.

Oh and Back to the Future? If he hasn't already seen on one of ITV's many channels.

    What age?

For some reason I remember Weekend at Bernies being one of my favourite films when I was young.
    and Police Academy :D
Maybe those are for early teens though.

Jumanji :) Weird film but I really liked it. Also the Roald Dahl films and the older Disney films.

    I recommend:

    1) March of the Wooden Soldiers (Laurel & Hardy)
It's almost 80 years old but it's still a GREAT film for kids and the young at heart. It also goes by the name of "Babes in Toyland". But if you're interested in it, be sure it's the Laurel & Hardy version. There are about 3 or 4 other versions that have been filmed over the years and none of them are as good as the L&H film. LINK (L&H)

    2) Abbott & Costelle meet Frankenstein
Another "oldie but goodie" that kids will love. LINK

Don't be turned off by the age of the films. I showed both movies to some children my mother was taking care of a few years ago (ages 5 and under) and they LOVED them. :)

Oh, I forgot to mention "The Wizard of Oz". That's another "must-see" for children. :)

Bugger looking at your films so far they are all in the 80s or after. I'm older so go back a bit more.

    The Amazing Mr Blunden
    The World's Greatest Athlete
    Escape to Witch Mountain
    Return to Witch Mountain
    Herbie Rides Again
One of our dinosaurs is missing
The cat from out of space
    Bugsy Malone

Looking at a lot of those titles they look like a pile of crap lol

    Poor little guy.

Seeing as you're showing him the 80's,I would recommend:
    Muppets Take Manhattan
    Neverending Story
    Return to Oz
    BFG
    Supergirl
    Heathcliffe:The Movie
    Masters of the Universe
    Teen Wolf
    An American Tail
    The Boy Who Could Fly
    Short Circuit
    Batteries Not Included

Some may be derided by adults, but all are very entertaining to young boys.

    Homeward Bound

I always used to cry when Shadow couldn't get out of that muddy ditch thing  and cringe when Chance had all those porcupine needles stuck in his nose *shivers*

    Flight of Dragons
    Hook
Those Magnificent Men in their Flying Machines
    All the Herby films
    Labyrinth
    Legend
    Star Wars
    The Witches
    Ghostbusters

For some bizarre reason - my younger brother and sisters (when they were between the ages of 4-8) love to watch The Rocky Horror Picture Show with me. They even used to dance to the Time Warp :D

My brother loved that Ewok film (not Return of the Jedi) :o

    Toy Soldiers, 1991.

Sean Austin, Wil Wheaton, Denholm Elliott....

School gets taken over by terrorists and school kids have to fight back. Have not seen it on TV for about 10 years.

    Flight of Dragons

    Absolutely best film ever

Having not watched it since I was 5, I am obviously qualified to say this
