Just stumbled across this...not sure what to make of it but it doesn't surprise me.
The Hollywood medium, James Van Praagh, was asked in a recent interview if he had come across the spirit of Heath Ledger yet and responded that he had briefly, a couple of weeks after Heath's death.
CY: Have you ever come across any celebrities that have crossed over like a Heath Ledger for example and asked them how they are?
JVP: Very good question. Yes I have. Yes Heath Ledger has appeared to me. Two weeks after he died I was shaving and right behind on the right side in the mirror his face appeared and he said to me in my head that I screwed up. Now he knew me. We didn't know each other directly, but we had mutual friends and he knew what I did. He said I screwed up. Then he thought about his daughter and that was it. Then the next thing I heard about Michelle [Williams], his ex, at their apartment in Brooklyn she's been haunted by him twice. Once she was awakened at 3:00 AM by furniture moving and another time at 4:00 AM in the morning. She said she knew it was him. There was a shadowy figure at the end of her bed. She knows it's him. I do get a sense that he is restless right now and really wants to speak with her. Actually as I speak I am working on doing a reading for her.
I read Candy at university, so settled down to watch the film the other day. I've watched Brokeback Mountain and A Knight's Tale before but I guess being a straight bloke, had never thought much more about Heath Ledger than decent actor, good in BM. Then he died and suddenly his career's all over the news, in magazines and there are all these fans really upset.
Watching Candy and really watching his performance, I can understand why. A really belieavable subtlety to quite a challenging role, understanted, almost self-effacing, but totally compelling. Lots of other actors would have been totally upstaged by Abbie Cornish's breasts in this particular film - but not this one.
Made me remember BBM and his portrayal of Ennis, always thought it was a classy performance but never realised until he died how damn young he was, playing someone in his late thirties. That took real skill, as did conveying his inarticulacy so well. Very good. Makes me want to watch BBM again.
His death at such a young age was tragic, but in at least two cases, the guy has left a real legacy behind.
I completely agree that Heath's performance in Candy was one of his finest performances, and has to be up there of one of the finest performances and I think Heath, Abbie and the film were wrongly overlooked with the oscar nods for this film.
I have to say though that I believe Heath closed Ennis up far too much in BBM, so much so that I, and many others I believe, had to use subtitles to understand a word he said. Other than that, it was a damn fine performance and a beautiful, yet heartbreaking film with an outstanding cast.
I believe Heath wasn't so well known or so well known for his talent because of how he chose the most unexpected and, at times, the most challenging films, none of which were expected to be huge box office hits. It's the way he wanted it though, he didn't want to be a tacky actor only known for heartthrob movies, he wanted to use his real talent in his acting ability, which he had in overflowing abundance. Except for Casanova, which I'm hoping he chose just for a lighthearted laugh to fill up some spare time.
From what I've read his portrayal of the joker in A Dark Knight is going to escalate him to legend status, although I think he was very nearly already there. I think A Dark Knight is going to be his finest hour, it's just so very tragic he won't be here to receive the accolades.

Hiya Rose, there was a thread on the movie section here about BBM, and quite a few FM's said that they didn't understand a word of dialogue from Heath. I tried to defend him (as i always will!) but i can see their point of view. I order to portray Ennis as Heath thought right he opened himself up for critisism. I personally thought he got it spot on, Ennis was a "clenched fist" of emotion, but alot of movie goers didn't get it at all. It's a pitty, it is a truely great film.I too thought Heath was fantastic in Candy, it's a very hard film to sit through but well worth it if you can.
Ps, I hope the psychic bloke is for real, and Isn't going to mess Michelle around.

I know what you mean and I understand why he did it, but even as a Heath admirer, I don't think he should have closed him up so much we couldn't understand a word he said. lol I think Ellen sums it up well in her BBM skit. Hilarious. Thankfully, Heath found it funny too. Still a great film and a great performance by Heath - as long as you've got access to subtitles.
Is it me, or does she look better than she's ever done?
Anyway, something I've been reading about, I know it's none of anyone elses business but it's interesting all the same. It seems that according to NY and LA law, Matilda is entitled to all of Heath's estate (which is millions - not just the £100k held in NY), regardless of what his will says. Heath's family are currently trying to persuade the courts that Heath was based in Australia and not NY/LA which is quite bizarre because everyone knows he's been officially been living in Brooklyn since they had Matilda.

Just reading that has made me so angry:mad:,under Australian law Matilda will only get a small share of her father's money. That is so wrong:mad:. Now, I never knew Heath, but I am sure that he would want all his money to go to his daughter, he adored her.

IF this is true then the only winners will be the lawyers. How sad.
I'm sure he would have wanted quite a portion to go to Michelle too for Matilda's upbringing. I've no doubt he'd have left some to his family, but I would have thought the large majority would have been left to Matilda in trust. I was hoping that the family would see to it that would happen but if they are contesting where Heath was based, maybe not.

Yep, I'm sure Heath would have wanted some of his money to go to his sisters and their families, and also to his parents. Like you, I think he would have wanted the majority of his money to go to Matilda, to keep in trust for her untill she reached 18 or 21. I think he would have hated all this fighting.
Well, not sure whether there is any fighting going on - it's just the legal system they are battling with so far, not Michelle. It doesn't sound like Michelle is claiming anything...yet. So far it just sounds like the parents trying to prove the estate belongs in Australia and under Australian law - I assume this has come about when they have tried to move the funds out of the states. I wonder, as Matilda is an American citizen, the US legal system are doing all they can to protect what's rightfully hers and it's out of Michelle's hands?

Hope he's for real and doesn't start messing with Michelle's head for a bit of publicity.
