Every year I question this and every year I call the council tax and every year they tell me the same thing - yes you only pay 12 months condensed into 10. Then every year I am estatic as my gass bill in feb is huge so I use the council tax extra money to cover it.
So what I am trying to say is no - I don't pay until April!

Doesn't your council send you an annual statement showing you what the next year's payments are going to be?
I remember having a query about my counicil tax and being told by the call centre monkey that in January and February I got two months "free".
That's a nice way of referring to a fellow human.
I pay my council tax annually in March, although I don't think it's due until April. It's the same this year as last (£2,248.38) which I prefer rather than laying out £225 a month for 10 months.

Not until late March (which I found out from the phone call last week)
I was waiting for Febs CT to come off and when it didn't I called them.
Got the same story as last year and then OH came home from work and told me I do this every year!
Works out well as we get a whopping huge gas bill in Feb!
All good!
