^^ On the way back from Arefu early on I got attacked by a couple of hobos, one of which was armed with a flamethrower. Took it off them and use that now. Pretty handy, especially for super-mutants.

I got stuck heading towards Galaxy Radio. The bit where you come across the locked steel cage with super mutants in it. tried to pick the lock, broke it, and then couldn't figure out how to get in. Doh!

Well, played a bit more last night, ended up in a disused station, chevy chase I think. got chased by two super mutants but havnt got the firepower to kill them.
Will head back to Megaton and trade some stuff I reckon.
I really need to get to the radio station though, i keep wandering off!

Pick up everything you can find and then go back to Megaton and sell it all and rest there as well so you don't use up any precious medicine.

Fantastic game, my game of the year for last year. Owning all the other Fallout games I was a bit worried about what Bethesda would do, but they did the franchise proud.

Roll on Tuesday and some more content :)

And for those struggling just take your time, use VATS to blow heads off, and save a lot in case you take on too much....

Yeah, I'm with Bigwill on this,
I'd love to be able to get immersed in this game, but all I seem to do is wander around getting killed.
I don't seem to have the firepower to survive, all I have is a measley 45 cal pistol, and a beat up hunter rifle.
To try and kill 4 ghouls etc is impossible.
Maybe I've missed something, or just hav'nt grasped the fundamentals.
    It's just becoming boring now.

You want to get some real armour that offers all over protection.

I really loved it till I got out of the vault... got to the town with the bomb in it, then tried to find the radio station and keep getting killed coming out of the underground.

    Guess I'm missing something?

i got told this today, when you go to a new area and the crestures spawn thier level is set by whatever level you are at. so if its proving to be difficult, go to that area, then leave and go to somewhere you have been before. Level up, then when you go back to the difficult area, the creatures will still be at the same level as when you first got there. hope that makes sense?

Does that really work? Just picked this up again today on eBay for £8.50! Really looking forward to playing 'Fallput 3'... ;)

If you at Chevy Chase the mutants should also come under attack from the Lyons Pride brotherhood, who should help escort you to Galaxy News (i.e let them deal with the mutants and you loot them after they've killed them). Frag Grenades are useful for softening up Mutants before shooting them. Also loot any fallen Brotherhood soldier (in particular the first one in the big plaza, big weapon to pick up).

Make sure you are braced for the surprise that pops its head round the corner at GNR plaza:eek:

I never met the Lyons Pride and had to deal with the 'surprise' with a hunting rifle and frag grenades! Took a while....

Malos body and armour I think, I removed it in the end because running around the wastes with your arse on display looked ridiculous. :D

I loved the first 2 fallout games and was really proud to finish them both ( I can count on one hand the number of games I have managed to finish as I am basically not very good! :) ) but I am finding this one so hard! I have it on easiest setting but am not doing so good at the fights! Have to get my husband to help :D

A Big Tip.. Make plenty Saves especially running up to the Main Quest ending.

You wont regret doing this at all.

    all the best

Had a great time playing this over the weekend. I just got up to level 20 after playing this game after a few weeks and is great fun. After playing through the main quest, I had plenty of fun killing the Enclave and looted me a Tesla Helmet into the bargain - I prefer the Brotherhood armour for the additional +2 STR stat.

Does that mod include new weaponry? Don't recall picking up a G36c on my wanderings through the wasteland :)

Loving this game. It is probably the best game of 2008 for me. How ever, I am finding it really tough to get money. Any tips? I can't afford anything:( I am around level 6

Are you trying to maintain good karma?
There are a number of side-quests that will earn you a few bottle caps, ask around Megaton.
    If not, steal stuff!
Don't do it in Megaton if you want to head back there for supplies, and don't attempt to pickpocket the wandering traders, as that's deadly.
But there is plenty to of other ways to make cash. If you fix the water leaks in Megaton for example, then you can sort out a deal where you will be paid in bottle caps for scrap metal. Search every box, every filing cabinet and every desk. Don't forget the vending machines too, every bottle of Nuka Cola you drink yields a bottle cap too. Just don't drink the Quantam. Also try to spend as much time in cover as possible as it makes detecting enemies (and therefore combat) a lot easier in the lower levels.

I finished this a few days ago (all of the quests with achievements - including Operation Anchorage).

I really loved the game, don't need to go into any Spoilers, but the whole experience is great!

Was playing this just there & competed the following in his footsteps mission, even though I hadn't done it! I'm doing the survival guide first and it unlocked when I spoke to a doctor in rivet city  how can I get he acheivement for this, it didn't give me one!?

Also who else should I talk to in rivet city to complete the optional task? (dunno if it does anything by doing the optional ones but I'm doing them anyway! :D)

Basically with "Following in His Footsteps" you are told to go to Rivet City by someone at Galaxy News Radio.

If you go down the path you have, you'll end up at Rivet City anyway.

To get the achievement that you missed, go to Galaxy News Radio (you can do this anytime between where you are and the end of the game).

Have this on the PS3 but I think my copy is faulty, once I get to the top ofthe radio tower & need to make my wayback down, the game freezes whenever I go in the elevator or back on the door

Absolutely fantastic game, thinking about trading it in for the 360 version for the achievements (I know the PS3 version has the trophies but for some reason I prefer achievements, don't know why though, I'm just a wierdo! :o

    Same here

Thanks! Keep meaning to go to the tower but get sidetracked all the time! :D

Nah, I got it from this.

This is good or will be when the guns are toned down a bit, at the moment some are horribly overpowered. Fun when the player has them, not so much when the bloke shooting at you is using one. :D

Sorry, but I've given this a chance, I find it slow, tedious and boring, and not realistic.
For instance, I was trying to get past a raider last night.
(form a gantry in Du pont circle, the one where there is two automatic turrets)
First, I frag grenade him, reports that his leg is damaged, so when I approach him he is still running around like a good un- unrealistic.
second I get my shot gun, fire two shots to the face-no effect. - unrealistic.
Hunting rifle, multiple hits, no effect.
Sorry but its become boring now.

I agree. When I was roaming the irradiated remains of Washington D.C. in 2277 it was much easier to kill people.
