Please don't tell me the audience laughed.
I thought that was a comment about this programme, until I read back to see the quote.

Just came across this on iplayer this weekend and watched both episodes. I like it. Loved the bit at the party when they got the rude father and son.

I switched off after the teacher jokingly accused 'Uncle' of being a child molester- completely inappropriate is putting it mildly. Jokes about child abuse? No thank you!
I actually thought that was not a joke about child abuse as much as it was a joke about the culture of suspicion there now is.

But it was a joke, you see? Not a serious allegation or a graphic depiction, a joke. In a sitcom. About the fact the Nick Helm looks a bit like your stereotypical paedo. Chill your boots.

Anyway, i didnt realise this had begun so caught up yesterday. Really enjoyed it, more so ep 2 at the party.

On a side note, I bet Nick Helm was ecstatic when Justin Lee Collins became unemployable.

This show surprised me as I wasn't expecting to like it but I did! Great writing and acting too. I will be watching it again.

I absolutely love it! I expected to like it, but not as much as I do. Great cast, great everything!

I once saw a live comedian do a joke about child abuse.

He pulled a romper suit from his trousers, threw it on the floor, them jumped up and down on it several times. He then shouted "child abuse!".
Child abuse is putting your child in a Nottingham Forest romper suit

Has anyone seen last night's? Very good again, and the young lad is really coming along! As an earlier poster said it is a bit like About a Boy. A real hidden gem!

I thought I must be the only person who watched it.i really enjoyed it ,it reminded me a little of the book About a boy,( not the film)
I got that reference as well.

A great start to a new series, let's hope it runs for a while.

For Nick Helm fans (and for those who watched the second episode) ......No Survivors....

Then you didn't listen at all to what the teacher said, did you.

If you had watched the rest of the show you would have realised the context.

Kind of like Nick Frost's half-brother.

This week's episode wasn't as funny, yet I liked it just as much.

I'd never heard of Nick Helm before.

Very good show. Took me by surprise as well. The nephew is especially great (the Uncle and Nephew are both "losers" and struggle in their own worlds). I thought episode 2 was comedy gold.

I feel the same as many others in this thread, I watched the first just to check it out but not expecting to enjoy it only to find it was really good.

I really like Gwen's Dad in it.

Surprised to see Martin from Benidorm in it as Roly's Dad too!

I liked the 1st and 2nd episodes (the party was great), but this weeks 3rd episode looked desperate; two renditions of the same song - in full - with just slightly different words? Nick Helm is nowhere near as good as he thinks he is and this gets in the way of what could be a really good comedy.

I thought it was another excellent episode.

At least the songs were part of the plot this week. In the first episode it was just randomly inserted.
In the second at least they were at the start and end of the episode.

I thought the songs fitted better this week, even if it was basically the same song.

Tbh three are renewing a lot ATM (if Badults and Bluestone 42 can get renewed, this has a good chance hopefully)

Have watched first two episodes and enjoyed them, thought from the first minute it owes a lot to About a Boy.

The boy reminded me a bit of Rowan Atkinson, his mouth and mannerism but I don't think they're related!

Pramface is coming back too, isn't it?

This is better than I expected based on the trailer and wasn't going to watch it based on that alone.

He reminds me of an actress but I can't remember who.
Best guess at the moment is Emila Fox

He's the son of an actress called Hannah Speller, who is apparently known for TrashHouse (2005), Underground (1998) and The Quest (2002). I've never heard neither of her nor any of those films.

And here's his dad: http://www.mkivsupra.net/vbb/showthr...uot-Uncle-quot

I also like Daisy Haggard, who was in one of my favourite ever comedy sketch series, Man Stroke Woman.

Nope. Not heard of those films either. She reminds me of Izzy Suttie. You can kind of see the resemblance in the mouth with her and her son.
