Just a heads up for those of you, like me, who don't have the set-top gear to watch All 4 online stuff on a proper TV, there is another single episode of a drama appearing on Channel 4 next Thursday at 10pm called "The Swingers".

It was trailed by that total bell-end Walter, which means all remaining episodes will only be online on All 4. Just like Locked Up and Case.

I hate the way they do that.

Locked Up is brilliant but I hate having to sit through the ads on All 4.

I thought the idea was to utilise the Friday night More 4 spot for subtitled drama to showcase Walter Presents content.

They did that with the excellent Dicte and also the Belgian black comedy about the sisters murdering their brother in law.

But since then there had been nowt.

Though I see a Euro drama starring Lars Mikkelson starting tonight ( 17th) on More 4, The Team.

This is not on the Walter Presents segment of the All 4 website so I don't know if this is the beginning of the end for Walter.

I hope so because since Walter came along Sky Arts seems to have dropped out of the market for quality foreign drama and BBC 4's once unmissable Saturday night slot has slowed to a trickle. Re-runs of The Young Montalbano showing in that slot at the moment.

I still haven't worked out who this Walter is, and more to the point - why?

Google and Wikipedia both down? What is the Internet coming to?

Walter Iuzzolino (born 1968) is an Italian television producer, the titular Walter in Walter Presents.
Walter Iuzzolino was born in Genoa in 1968, and has had a lifelong interest in film and television drama.[1]
Iuzzolino is responsible for selecting the content for the Walter Presents range of free streaming foreign language TV drama series to the UK's Channel 4

Typical response from you.

The question was largely rhetorical.

Don't need google to surmise what he is, a hipster tosser who is stealing foreign dramas from our TV screens.

Yes I thought that too, been almost two months since Modus ended on BBC Four on Saturdays. And no trailers for any upcoming dramas either. Can assume BBC Four will have nothing new until March.

Don't think (for better or worse) this is the end of Walter, it's just a sign of how that brand is being targeted. It isn't intended to be the label for *all* C4's subtitled stuff, merely the streaming, revenue raising, 'curated' imprint. The Team is airing in its entirety on More 4 - whereas Walter's stuff only has single episodes airing on C4 as teasers.

Edited to echo the comment above about a dearth of good drama at the mo.

I am thinking Walter has entered the market and has bought up dramas which would previously have been on BBC 4 or Sky Arts, hence the dramatic fall off in new foreign output on those channels, particularly the latter channel.

That is why I have cooled on Walter after being very excited by the prospect of his sub-channel at the start.

Very true.

But in the early months of Walter they ran complete series of Walter programmes on More 4.

Dicte, The Outlaws and Deutschland 83 were all shown in their entirety on More 4.

The teaser thing seemed to start with Locked Up and has been continued ever since.

Typical to the point of not really needing you to point it out, I'd have said myself!

I thoroughly enjoyed The Team on More 4 this evening.

Now strangely enough, although this programmes is not listed on the Walter Presents section on All 4, tonight's broadcast was under the auspices of Walter, with his logo and channel sponsor ad.

And the whole series will be shown on More 4 each Friday

Yes, The Team was good, moving about between 3 cities Berlin, Antwerp and Copenhagen, and it demonstrates that a Walter Presents programme can be shown in its entirety on the normal C4 channels instead on only on all4.

According to an article in the Guardian last year Walter had loads of shows scheduled for More 4. I don't remember most of them being shown, but in particular does anyone remember Penoza, which was announced for early June last year?

Walter thinks it's better than the Sopranos. In fact he thinks it's as good as Chekov. But it doesn't seem to be available on All4. Was it ever shown?

I hope we are correct about that. It seems to be listed again on More 4 for next Friday, but you just never can be sure with Walter presents, it normally denotes All 4 only content after a premiere epsiode.

I think we are in luck this time.

My Virgin planner asked if I wanted to "record series" of The Team and next week's episode is on the list of scheduled recordings.

Whereas The Swingers just gives a single record option.

Yes I thought they made it clear from the start that The Team would take the (semi) regular Friday night More4 overseas slot and Swingers, like The Case, would be ep 1 only to whet the appetite then left to forage about on All4 for the rest.

I'll give Swingers a watch then may All4 the remaining episodes but I bet they lose lots of potential viewers who just forget/can't be ar$edif a programme doesn't continue to appear on their EPG .

With the trailers for Swingers I was reminded of the US 70s set show Swingtown that was on ITV a few years back but think this one is a bit more murder-ee.
