I wonder if the scarf graffiti is a tribute to Doc 4?

Aww that's cute. I think there's no doubt the scarf is a tribute to Doc 4.

What a shame it's been left to get in such a state! I really hope they manage to save it!

We have a Tardis in Scarborough - it only has one window on each side and one door - but looks quite good on the seafront.
It gets a lick of paint now and again - it's been there for years!

    TARDIS

This one was painted black and gold a week or two ago - not impressed! Thankfully, the one at the West End has been left alone.

Yes, the scarf was added by Newport Council back in the 80s as a Who tribute. It can be found on Chepstow Road, east of The River Usk.

I think it's really interesting that the police box has for ages now been more synonymous with Doctor Who than with the police. Brings to mind that case where the Met. tried to copywright the police box image away from the BBC and were refused by the courts !!

Question is, would the boxes including this one in Cardiff be any good in service with the police; ie. hold any credibility, or should they just be Doctor Who memorabilia ?

I doubt the police have any use for them these days, but it's worth preserving at least a few for historical reasons- as well as a place for Dr Who fans to pose for pictures!
