BBC iPlayer and Green Screen

So I've spent the last few hours trawling the internet and still no luck. Loads of people have this problem but I haven't found a single solution yet.
The new (rubbish) iPlayer is downloaded and installed. I donwload a programme and after 30 seconds or so the screen turns green. Sometimes there's a snippet of sound and maybe a flash of video for a few moments but then it's back to the green.
As I said, lots of people appear to be having this issue online but I haven't found anything which works yet.
Any suggestions?

I use it a lot without the need to download
Yes ,it is BBC iplayer. Have you download the iplayer Download app ?
