Even if he does resign, It just means that the show will have to be redited and the voice over changed, which is about 20 minutes work.
The producers must be delighted with all the promotion its getting on the news channels and in the papers.
Rumours on Twitter about it from various sources. He's in trouble over comments about Sky/Murdoch.
If true, I can't see it's an issue, as political parties complain about being underexposed on the BBC, which the LDs can't do on this as it's self-inflicted underexposure. (Vince was only invited, along with Peter Mandelson - who declined - to head off accusations of a pro Tory stance by having Ann in the main series.)
The rest of the competitors announcing on Christmas Day that they were now activists for UKIP might pose more of a problem...
Sorry to say!, if you are going to give us some scandal please give us the whole story!, i have no idea who Vince Cable is so!, don't know why his resignation would mean the whole programme being 'pulled'...... please give me more of a clue?........
Vince Cable is the LibDem Business Secretary and senior member of the government.
He's been caught talking to undercover reporters about the Newscorp (Murcdoch) takeover of Sky in a way which damages his impartiality....
I don't think he has resigned has he?
There have been calls for his resignation but he hasn't announced anything
90% certain listening to various sources..
The statement 'News coming through that Vince Cable has resigned' is not the same as '90% certain listening to various sources'.
Yes, it is likely but no, it is not a fact until he says 'I resign'.
He will resign or be sacked. Either way it will not stop the the SCD Christmas special airing.
Ooh, and this means that SCD xmas day is in trouble because?...........................................................
For one any references to him as 'the business secretary' or as a 'member of the government' will be wrong.
In addition it would be questionable about wether him having fun and making jokes on SCD would go down well when he's just resigned..
It would be like a normal celeb..and then a day after filming being caught taking hard drugs, or being in a sex scandal...
The Strictly show is already filmed and in the can - even the winner is known. So no worries;
Ooh... so what you are saying is?...' He is an MP and he is in the show!.... and because he has resigned it would be wrong for him to be seen having some fun!.... Where's Nan when you want her?...... ...... I can just image what she would say!... What a f*****g load of old b******s..............:D:D
Editing!!!
Do you really think anyone actually cares. Of course its going ahead
Apart from the fact that it was the BBC who were given this story by a whistleblower and were the ones who broke it.
If he does resign, all it will take is an announcement at the beginning saying 'This programme was recorded before Vince Cable's recent resignation as Business Secretary' and everything will be fine.
If, when fending off the judges' comments about his dancing, he were to say, 'And Rupert Murdoch is the spawn of Satan, by the way', then it might be relevant to mention the kerfuffle today, but otherwise? Irrelevant.
But Starsailor said it was 90% certain, I want my money back
He is not even stepping down as Business Secretary
Murdoch will now have a new target to try & remove
For your first 2 points- the bbc will do a voice over before the show starts explaining that it was recorded before his resignation. Why would it be questionable if explained by the voice over that it was filmed a month in advance?
As for your last point, talk about overreaction. If he had been caught in one of those situations then I could understand them pulling the show but not for this.
