Perhaps EH could take pictures and post them here of cupboard (and contents), the not bedroom, ex-balcony, and any other rooms of interest, to give us an idea of what this flat looks like (my imagining is rather bizarre!) .... a floorplan would be very helpful also.

Took me a minute to realise EH was EbonyHamster and not Environmental Health
Ooh I love a floorplan, I get really annoyed if I see properties on rightmove and there's no floor plan.
Tinks, out of interest, have the council also reclassified the 2 bed flats in the rest of the block to one bed flats even where the tenant is working and if so, has the price of the rent gone down? What about flats where the occupiers are actually entitled to 2 bedrooms, does that suddenly make them over accommodated?

They've reclassified all of them as far as I'm aware, not sure about your other questions
It's still there it's just that the council no longer class it as a bed room
What do they class it as then? I'm so confused as to how you can have a 2 bed flat that has now become a 1 bed.
Was the 2nd bedroom that no longer is a bedroom really small?

Not sure how the council managed to reclassify them all
No, she is telling the truth about the council reclassifying (although government was clamping down on councils that do this so they may have to classify it back again) but the bedroom has not disappeared. She still has a 2 bed flat, no matter what you call it.
They have been doing it in lots of areas but its viewed dimly by the government. It also leaves the local council with a really hard dilemma because reclassifying means lower rents, which means lower council income, they are between a rock and a hard place
Newcastle are worried they may lose money over the practice but would face huge housing issues if they dont, so what is the solution?

There's a chance the latter may have already done so
I don't read the DM, it doesn't work on my browser

I don't know

Who knows
What do you use it for?
OHs weights room/my physio/storage
Yeah, to get around the bedroom tax thing...
But you still have a 2 bedroom flat
I'll go with what the council say
But that's ridiculous.
Oh well
They've done that here in Nottingham in some area's too.
It'll probably be a "reception room".
I live in a 2-bed bungalow but the 2nd bedroom's not big enough for a double bed, so we use it as a study.
