I just saw this in tonight's CBB thread. I haven't watched Corrie for years but I was genuinely saddened to hear this.

R.I.P to her and condolences to her family.

Bloody hell! She was off for 3 months break, and wasn't back to Corries last weekend, as it was in the papers last weekend. RIP Anne :(

    How very sad R.I.P
I had only recently read about her difficulties at work and how, even though she had physically recovered from her cancer, she never really came to terms with its effect on her whole life. R.I.P

Whether you're a Corrie fan or not, this is a terrible shame.

She was one of the most recognisable faces on British TV and the character she played of Deirdre Barlow was one of the lynchpins of the whole show for the best part of 30 years.

    RIP Anne Kirkbride.

Whao! Talk about shocked! Can't believe this. She was one of them celebrities/actresses that I expected would carry on acting until she was maybe near 80. Gobsmacked at this.

I haven't watched CS for 20 odd years but even I was shocked to read of her passing. 60 is far, far too young. I still remember the Deidre, Ken and Mike storyline. RIP Anne

I could always take or leave Corrie, but she was an icon, no doubt about it. On the rare occasions she was on something else - Mr & Mrs and so on - she seemed very funny and like she didn't take herself too seriously.
