BioWare's latest RPG in the Dragon Age series has been given a release date of the 10th of October (7th in North America). That's the same week as Shadow of Mordor and Alien: Isolation, and the week before Batman: Arkham Knight.

For current and last gen. Xbox and PlayStation consoles plus Windows PC (Origin).

There's going to be a "Deluxe Edition" with various bits of extra content:

I didn't realise Batman was given a release date. Did that happen today?

Edit: looks like it's been pushed back to 2015 from a quick Google.

Oh this is a Dragon Age thread. I didn't play the first one but I really enjoyed the second one. Though I think a lot of people weren't so hot on it.

So I'm looking forward to this. RPGs, dragons... They know me soo well. :)

It looks promising, but after the disappointing ME3 and the travesty that was DA2 this will the the first Biroware single player RPG i won't be pre-ordering in years.

Will certainly pick it up if it gets decent reviews though.

I'm a huge Dragon Age fan. I played through Origins countless times because of how much of a difference you could have on each playthrough. Also, while Dragon Age 2 wasn't as good as Origins, I still played it quite a lot because I enjoyed it, and the companions were awesome.

I'm really hyped for Inquisition. Even though there are quite a few big changes, it still looks like the Dragon Age I love. I really hope they have some awesome companions in the game too, as those are one of my main joys in these games.

I've never actually played either of the previous DA games. Dunno why, given that I love Mass Effect and KOTOR.

If this is good, I'll get it... But probably not at launch given what else is out, & rumoured to be out, in the same month.

One story I found, after reading your post, said 2015, but had an update saying 2014.

Retailers still have it listed for 14th October. Not in any way official, but Rocksteady did say 2014 and October would fit with past releases.

Dragon Age is getting some excellent reviews.

    Metacritic Link

I desperately want this game but I have just pre ordered GTA V and Christmas is coming and all that jazz. I might have to wait a while for this one.

Very good reviews for this :)

[And far better than what AC Unity has had :p ]

I've got the digital deluxe edition pre-loaded for Xbox One... although I really need to finish Mordor first, and Halo...

Oh, has anyone tried the Dragon Age Keep?

    https://dragonagekeep.com/en_US/

It's BioWare's solution to the inability to do save transfers from the previous two games.

It gives an overview of DA:O and DA II, with certain choices offered, before then giving a detailed "tapestry" with even more choices on it that you can make.

Everything is saved to Origin, and can then be exported to create the world-state for your DA: Inquisition playthrough (any platform).

No. More like a fantasy/medievel Mass Effect. Except during combat you can switch between the characters in your party.

If you are interested it may be worth a punt on the first 2 DA games for backstory. First is good, second not so much but I think is a lead-in to DA:I.

Yep - but I've forgotten most of the choices I made :(

Ubisoft have gone to a new low with Unity....so much bad PR from Unity! the neogaf forums are going mental over it.

    Make new choices! :)

I've used the Keep, even though I've never played either of the previous two DA games.

When do EA Access users get access to the trial? On the fence about this.

Liked the previous two Dragon Age games, debated about a month ago whether I'd buy this or Unity and it's an easy choice now. Looking forward to it.

I've tried several times and can't get into the first game, I didn't really like combat press X and then the game swings at the enemy for you and story and world never really grabbed me, I haven't played the second because of my dislike for the first coupled with the negative reception the games received

The third one looks interesting though and from watching some gameplay it looks more action oriented with the player controlling every attack

My question would it matter if I join in the at the third game? is it newcomer friendly?
With Mass Effect, I played the third first because I wasn't interest in the series at the time and thought it looked like a decent action game, I've since played the first two and I wish I would of started at the beginning
With Dragon Age I have no intention of ever playing the first game again, I might give the second a go but only if its essential to play it before the third

From what I have read, you can jump in with this one, but it would help to know the backstory.

Some handy links someone posted on another forum I visit:

    http://kotaku.com/a-beginners-guide-to-all-things-dragon-age-1658487212

    http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=931900

You can use the Dragon Age Keep to recap the main events of the previous two games, and various major and minor choices to set up the world state for Inquisition:

    https://dragonagekeep.com/en_US/

I would think that jumping in with this would be easier than with Mass Effect 3, because although it's set in the same world as the previous two games it follows a different main character and has a different main story (unlike ME3, which was a proper sequel, continuing the story and characters of the previous two games).

Played it for roughly 2 hours so far. Spent roughly 30 minutes creating my inquisitor, and have been having a blast playing. Taking a break until tomorrow now. :D

Is this Dragon Age Keep thing with the choices in-game like the Comic books at the start of Mass Effect 2+3 or do I need to do it on that site and then download the choices before starting a new game?

Good to know it'll be easier to just jump into as well, when I get my X1 this will be on the maybe list, having a good long RPG alongside a new system is always a good thing

^^ It allows you to set the timeline up, so it replicates what you did in the previous games, so choices you made then, are impacting now etc. They had to do this as there's no option for installing a save from a previous game.

You can of course just play the game, the above bit is not needed.
