Summer: Who else couldn't get to sleep last night?

The inside of my bedroom feel's like there are two Suns instead of one!

Kept on tossing and turning, and ended up falling asleep at 4:30am!

Slept in shorts and vest with the windows open, even then I was still sweating, could not get comfortable!

Me neither. The 4 x 500ml cans of Stella and bottle and half of wine probably helped. :p

I tried sleeping naked and without the covers on, and I still found it difficult to get to sleep. :(

    You should buy a fan.

When they build silent fans I'll be the happiest person on earth

I've got a fan. Didn't help last night.
Bedroom windows open. Landing window open. Door open for throughdraught. Fan on.
    Sweating buckets.

Oddly enough, whilst I get hot and my face sweats a lot whilst walking, once still, my body cools down quite quickly. So even on the hottest night, I never have any problem sleeping.

I did sleep last night, with the duvet half down, however.

I used to use it all the time in the Summer, till I read you can get pneumonia by doing this,
Not sure if its true or not?

Whoever told you that was probably thinking about the Legionnaire's disease (similar to pneumonia) which used to breed in large air con units. There's no chance whatever of getting anything from a fan.

Pneumonia is usually bacterial or viral, so I fail to see how a fan could cause you to become infected.

No problem sleeping, but I did operate my whole house fan on its lowest setting for a few hours, just to create a nice cooling breeze through the open windows. First time this year.

Very effective anti-whinging device. I commend it to the thread.

I haven't slept well for a few nights now. Apart from the heat, the lighter mornings are waking me up, along with the local birds. I do love having birds visiting my garden but my God they make a lot of noise early in the morning! It is a nice sound to be fair, I just wish they'd do it about 3 hours later!

The birds usually wake up at exactly 4am near my bedroom!

What about 'em? They tend to lay their eggs in your ears rather than anywhere else.

It was fairly hard, I hate leaving the window open as well incase I wake up to a large swap swanning about the room.

Not too bad last night but it feels warmer tonight, despite it not being particularly sunny. It felt muggy all day or what some people call 'close' and there was a storm in the early evening. I also don't like leaving the window open because of moths getting in. I have something to do tomorrow that is causing me a lot of anxiety so I doubt I'll sleep well tonight.
