I have RD1 radio
The one you can record straight onto a sound card with
I tried to record from a particular FM frequencey,but it would not allow me too
It would allow me to record off the DAB frequencey

My understanding is that DAB broadcasts can be recorded because the information is already digital and ready to be stored on the memory card - it is simply decoded upon playback in the same way a live signal is decoded.
FM broadcasts, being analogue, would have to be converted to some a digital signal (and most likely compressed) before it could be stored on memory card, and the electronics required would add extra cost and weight at the very least.
