Wiki says....http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Names_of_the_days_of_the_week#Germanic_tradition
Edit: Thursday - Thor's Day, Wednesday,- Odin's Day. Friday - Freyr's Day from Norse mythology.
Saturday is Saturn from Roman mythology.
Rest will be in that article I expect.
The planets are mostly named after gods.
Wednesday = woden
Thursday = Thor
Friday = freya
Saturday = Saturn
They're what i can remember
Tiw's-day
Woden's-day
Thor's-day
Freya's-day
Saturn's-day
Sun's-day
Germanic tribes (who later settled in England) adapted the Roman system substituting with their gods (with the exception of Saturn).
I say them like that when I've had a skinful.
Well it is Thor's-day. You can get hammered.
LOL!
And then struck off.
Old gods.
Barnday
Bernday
Birnday
Bornday
Burnday
But they ran out of vowels so had to create a weekend barn.
Barnastay and Barnastuy.
I read that as old goats :D
