Unless House is found buggering a goat he must be a shoe-in for the job

He lived in London when young, was Assistant Commissioner in the Met, has been successful in Glasgow - and he hasn't pissed off the Tories.

He sounds like a front runner to me Pop

From the article for anyone wanting a quick glance.

House is seen as having performed well at Strathclyde after leaving the Met, where he rose to the rank of assistant commissioner. The Scottish force won praise in the aftermath of the riots for its pioneering work countering gangs and House is believed to have been asked by home office officials to apply.

If he does not get the Met job, he would be the frontrunner to become the new chief of a single Scottish force.

It's topical Zeus and so important to get right especially with all considered.

They've sacked all the hard man coppers for trivial rule infringements, some undoubtedly grudge born. I'd want Adam Briggs.

Given his great experience, I'd have to go with Sir Hugh Ord but Stephen House is also a very good candidate. My bet is that it'll be one of those two.

I want the job to go to a twelve-year-old Japanese girl.
