Feeling at a loss after the end of the football season ?

Not to worry.......it's the semi finals of the European U17 championships today with both England and Scotland having qualified through the group stages

England play Portugal, KO 4.45
Scotland play Netherlands, KO 7.45

Both games live on Eurosport

England got through the group by beating Malta (the hosts) and a Turkish team that was down to 10 men for most of the match. In the final group game they were beaten by the Netherlands, both teams having already qualified and playing some squad players.

Scotland lost to Portugal in their first game then beat both Germany and Switzerland to qualify out of the group

Portugal and Netherlands will be favourites after winning all 3 of their group games.........but it would be pretty good if we could get an England v Scotland final !.......:D

England just scored, which is nice, but then they ruined it by doing a terrible dance.

Yes........they could have used the hour they spent learning that learning to keep the ball instead

I want England to win so it keeps alive the chance of a Scotland - England final.

I'll be fuming though if England win then Scotland get beat. :D

Fantastic mazy run (and a scuffed/deflected finish) leads to England's 2nd and surely a place in the final.

Fulham have got a very talented lad in Roberts, perhaps he will get a chance in the Championship next season?

Young Leeds United player in centre midfield for the U17s as well, Lewis Cook, hope we can hang on to him and he gets a chance with the first team squad next season.

I think a few of their youngsters will - looks promising for Fulham.

    Nope

The final is today, kick off 6pm on Eurosport

    England v Netherlands

The Dutch beat us fairly easily in the group match but both teams were playing some squad players after already qualifying

Teams might be a bit different today............I suppose realistically the Dutch are a better team and should win but you never know

England won this 4 years ago a bit against the odds as we didn't appear to be the best team then either, so it can be done

We seem to do well at the younger age levels and it has often been said that our youth players are just as good in ability as other countries. But then our players fail to develop at the same rate and are left behind by the time they reach senior level.

we don't really do that well at youth level

we've only won 1 of the 31 UEFA tournaments at U16 and U17 levels (it used to be U16 but changed to U17 in 2002 -it's an annual tournament started in 1982)

In the same period we've won 1 out of the 30 UEFA U18/U19 tournaments

Solanke scores for England after 25 minutes and it looked like we were having the better of the first half, but the Dutch equalise just before half time with a classy goal to be fair.

    1-1 at the break.

    Nice one England!

What brilliant penalties from the lads. The seniors could learn a thing or two from that!

Funny how penalties aren't such a 'lottery' when you have good technique and take good pens. Well done lads.
