There's been more than a wee bit of speculation for a while now that there's more the Rory than meets the eye, and since AGMGTW, there's been ideas batting around that he's a timelord. I don't particularly believe them- I think the conversation with Madame Vastra satisfied my need for explanations about Melody's DNA. But...
If he is, the The Doctor is travelling with The Nurse! He ahs mentioned it almost every episode, and if the word 'doctor' comes from the Doctor, maybe nurse could come from the Nurse! Especially as Rory is also a bit of a warrior.
This is just a bit of fun to fill the Who-less months, but I wouldn't be too surprised if it came true
