Which type of sealant should I have use

Hello, I am posting from Poland as I have job over here which involve plumbing assignment. I am bit worry as I have use translucent sealant on shower joint to stop water leaking onto joust. I just want know if I should have use normal white sealant. Does it matter? The person I do job for tells me that he is concerned as they have many Karakurt Spider under house and he doesn't want them spying on his family. Is there any problem with using translucent sealant as to opaque other than aesthetic/superficial? Thankyou for your help
