I am wondering if Shaun played this a wee bit tactically tonight. The first contestant was very good on the quick fire round and i think was a wee bit unlucky
The last lady was pretty slow and not that great on quick fire round. Now if Shaun had knocked her out I am pretty certain they would have picked the first guy to go against Shaun, which may have been interesting
Shaun knew this so let her go through and knew he would catch her quite easily on final chase. Or am I being too cynical

Something similar occurred to me, although I as thinking more along the lines that she should have let him beat her, and rely on the first guy to get some dosh. Although, maybe she thought she had a chance against Shaun. (Not a dig at Shaun. He's my favourite chaser, and I think the programme benefits from having one who contestants might feel they have a slim chance against.)

It would be questionable stategy for the player in that situation to lose deliberately. If she does, and they pick the first guy to play for them, yes,he would probably have more chance, but it's only worth a thousand pounds to her. Whereas if she gets through she's playing for fifty thousand. Even if she had only a two percent chance of winning,it's surely better to go for this than maybe a ten percent chance of only a thousand.
Suppose you were given you a choice of the following:
We shuffle a deck of cards, and if you can cut to any Ace, you win a thousand pounds. Or,alternatively, you can choose only the Ace of Spades as a winner (any other Ace loses) - but if you can cut to that one card, you win fifty thousand.

I'm sure she said South Shields
I thought she sounded local.
No, that's what I'm thinking too
Whatever she gets in her Chase she would be just as well going for the high offer, then if she loses she will still have a chance at £1K

There is no doubt which I would choose.
He has tweeted that he has won 11 games on the bounce and awaits today's victims. If he keeps playing like this it won't be 12 in a row.
