Panasonic BD80 Blu Ray Query

My machine recently appears to have developed a fault.
Although it is intermittent, it is happening more frequently.
While the Audio is not affected, the picture dissapears for a second. It's as though the whole system shuts down for a fraction of a second. I thought it might just be a loose plug, but everything is secure.
Any thoughts?

Assuming the audio is still routed via optical to your amp it may well be a dodgy HDMI lead.

    Try another one.
Loss of picture is standard when the output changes from one resolution , say 1080 to 576 which some of the extras might be.

Even if you have the player set to upscale it will happen if you change to something that is not true HD.

If it interrupts regular viewing then it may well be a fault if another HDMI lead won't sort it
