Just over 3 years since he passed away.

The reason why i have posted this is because i remember the day he died very well. Was so shocked

Seemed like a great lad. Loved his song - New Beginning

RIP Stephen

I too was very saddened at his death. He did seem such a lovely lad ....................so sad to die so young. Mt daughter was a big Boyzone fan - she loved Stephen.

I share the same birthday as him (not year though). Shocking that someone young & healthy could just die suddenly of natural causes :( There were some disgusting tabloid insinuations at the time

Yes I remember, and I remember a female journalist in the news saying he died because he was gay and that's what you should expect living a gay lifestyle.

Has it been 3 years already? It seems like yesterday when I was watching the tv on and some programme was talking about him dying and I thought 'when did he die?, Have I missed something?'
It was a very sad loss of a very talented young man, we don't see much talent like his anymore.

Now this is odd - I was watching the 3 parter on BBC 2 this week 'I'm in a Boy Band/Girl Band/Pop Star' - really good series to watch if you haven't - you can probably catch it still on iPlayer I should think.

Anyway, Boyzone were on it and obviously so was Stephen Gately (though not specifically interviewed).

Watching it, I thought to myself how sad it was that such a young man was dead, and how I always thought he was such an attractive man.

The bit that is odd - is that I would have thought it was much more than 3 years ago he died - no idea why I should have thought it, but it just 'seems' like longer ago.

Then again, I couldn't tell you how many years it is since Michael Jackson died - it is funny how you lose track of the passing of time - which I think can be more prevalent with famous people as you still 'see' them (TV shows etc)

ETA - I was mortified watching the thing about Frankie Howerd that was on and finding out how long ago he passed away !

Was a decent lad! wasn't aware it was heart condition he'd died from. Very sad at such a young age, and with a potentially very successful career ahead of him.

I dont think he died due to his heart.

Dont want to speculate tho. He had a heart of gold

My grandmother died the day before he did. She died on the 9th October 2009. She left me money and with that I got married exactly 6 months later on 9th April 2010!
