Mind Body & Kick Ass Moves is now being shown on UK People at 11pm.
A brilliant series which I almost never saw the first time round on BBC3 because of the stupid title and the trailers which just show people hitting each other. It's a lot more than that.
The presenter, Chris Crudelli, has spent most of his adult life studying different martial arts and travelling the world, learning about the spirituality and mental disciplines that go along with the fighting. Well worth watching. Especially the episode with the Iron Penis guy, and the one who can make people fall over just by shouting at them (the body is mostly made of water, and the specific tone of the shout makes a ripple in the water).
Kick Ass Miracles is a new series on BBC3. It's more of the above, but slightly more on the spiritual side. Last week's episode was about the protection afforded by rituals and talismans. Some of it was pretty freaky - amulets pinned on to targets on a firing range, being shot at by professional sharpshooters at point blank range and escaping without a scratch because the shooter missed, or the guns kept unexplainedly jamming  And then there was the guy who reckoned he could make his skin hard through prayer and it would protect him from blows from a razor sharp machete-looking thing. He obviously didn't pray hard enough cos he cut right through to the bone
So, if yers are looking for telly that's a bit different to everything else you could do a lot worse than tuning in to something of a Kick Ass nature.
Anyone else been watching?

Hadn't heard of the Miracles thing though.
I think Kick Ass Miracles only started last week or the week before. Last week's was the first one I've seen.
BBC 3 Kick Ass Page
Edit: Last week's was the third one. Oh well, I expect they'll repeat it at stupid o clock at some point.
I must just say: the Firewalking! OMG!
I really admire the way he'll try anything they'll let him try,
Edited in case that counts as a spoiler.
I hope it get's shown on BBC TWO as I don't particularly like the BBC THREE logo (which gets stuck on virtually every programme except for movies).
By the way, I found the DVD in the BBC Shop, I had been looking for it like mad about a year ago but never found it, it seems it wasn't released on DVD until Sep 5 2005, well over a year (I think) after it premiered on BBC TWO/THREE.
Does this mean we might not expect the Kick Ass Miracles episodes on DVD until the 2nd half of 2007?
Also, does anyone know how the picture quality on the BBC DVDs compares to the original airings on BBC ONE/BBC TWO on Freeview/Satellite? Is it the same bitrate (4 – 5 Mbps) or is it higher (10 Mbps perhaps)? (At least it's in 16:9 like it was on TV, isn't it?)
I finally got round to watching the DVD containing "Mind, Body And Kick Ass Moves" but I must say I'm not all that impressed with the quality (although the DVD did turn out at least to be in 16:9 anamorphic, which is good!).
I've been recording the programmes (BBC Three at — ehh — stupid o'clock) on my Sky+ the last couple of days, and comparing them with the ones on the DVD and the DVD version appears to be softer on the screen (not as sharp) and the audio is not as audible or crisp as on the DSAT recordings.
And to top all that, the soundtracks in the background on the DVD are all totally different to the ones which originally aired on the BBC. The music that has been put on the DVD somehow doesn't seem to fit with the material like the original music did and it has not even been very well edited, it's much louder than the rest of audio and has been cut too late in some scenes.
Also, the order of the episodes on the DVD is all mixed up, it doesn't match the order it was aired on the BBC (or even UKTV People for that matter), e.g. the first aired episode is actually number 5 on the DVD.
The only advantage of watching it on DVD therefore, in my oppinion, is the absence of the obscene BBC THREE logo.
Other than that, I must say I'm not at all to happy with how those programmes have been mastered onto DVD.
BTW: What do you think are the chances of BBC TWO ever airing these programmes again? And no, I do not mean in the signing zone.
