I actually think Vodafone is becoming better and hopefully with cornerstone they can fill in gaps of there 3G network and roll out good 4G they are well fitted for it with right amount of spectrum and with most of there customers having smart phones should work well.

I've noticed they are becoming more consistent recently.

Aha sorry, just so much pro 3 on one thread.

And since when were voda getting better? I've been hearing the opposite on here.

Let me clarify that one sorry it a bit weird I meant they clearly want to improve themselves as they paid a lot out for spectrum giving them a nice amount and by looks of it are at least very much looking to the future when 2G is out of the way. By trying to get permission to refarm 900MHz and 1800MHz [Understand 900 not sure about 1800 though] they own. They have a pretty decent customer service. Not the best at 3G coverage but not the worst either if Cornerstone pays of well for them they should have a good 3G and 4G coverage and pretty decent speeds.

Which shows at least they want to become better it's a good thing to see.

And yeah there have been problems recently but no-where near as many as EE is having.

A few 3G comparisons done today as I've got Orange, O2 and Vodafone. I can also choose between a "T-Mobile" (30)or "Orange" (33) signal although it usually prefers T-Mobile and will switch back after a while. All done in a Huawei E586 MiFi but connected by USB so no wifi impact. It's capable of 21Mbps HSPA+ so no dual carrier possibility. Best results posted although they were all fairly consistent. Big differences between networks though. Don't have 3 so they missing.

Orange sim with "T-Mobile" (30) signal:

Orange sim with "Orange" 33 signal which seemed to be standard HSDPA and not HSPA+:

    O2

    Vodafone

Following on from this I noticed that Vodafone are now throttling me to 10Mb/s. http://www.speedtest.net/my-result/2850157386

Confirmation here if you are not on 4G or 4G ready plans.

If you do not have a '4G Ready' or '4G' Plan your upload data speed will be limited to
8Mbps and your download data speed will be limited to 10Mbps.

What a con when dc-hspa can do much more than that.

Voda used to give me more than that down even without dc.

The upload limit of 8 is interesting though as it doesn't seem to be a limit that would have any effect on the current 3G setup. I wonder if it means that you'll be able to use 4G without a compatible plan but you'll just be limited to 10 down, 8 up if you do.

Limiting to 8Mbps upload is a strange figure, DC-HSPA will only give 3-4MBps upload in the real world.

What's a 4G ready plan referring to? 4G phones? But with no 4G access?

And why is the upload cap so high?

So that's their plan then, deliberately degrade 3G services unless you upgrade to a 4G plan for more money.

So when you thought you had a good 3G plan they are deliberately throttling it just to try and push you to a 4G plan.

This is a possibility, everyone with a 4g capable phone gets restricted 4g but if they change to a specific 4g plan then it's full speed.
