Wasn't there someone who died on a Noel Edmunds show in the 1980's? It was in one of his stunt games I think it was. I could be horibbly wrong though.
Your thinking in the right area but wasn't live on tv. Basically a member of the public was rehearsing his stunt during the week which unfortunately turned for the worse.
Christine Chubbock, news lady that committed suicide by shooting herself live on air in the US. The film 'Network' was partially based on her. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christine_Chubbuck
O'Donnell's death wasn't live on TV, I don't think, but Antonio Puerta's was earlier this season.
I dont think it was shown live on tv either. Setanta were showing the Rangers Hibs game at the time.
They did go to Fir Park on BBC Interactive's Score right after play resumed, but just in audio. You could tell something major was up because the reporter sounded really worried.

(Google it).
I remember that like it was yesterday. It was awful and the audience thought it was part of his act.
Yeah, was a member of the public that died, but it didn't happen during the show itself.

There was also the wrestler Owen Hart who fell from the ceiling of an Arena when a stunt went wrong. However this was not shown on camera as they were showing a video package when it happened.

Good example but it was more like thousands.

But for various Italian legal reasons he only actually died at the nearby hospital of course...
Wish I hadn't....
Quite disturbing, yes? Children were watching that broadcast.
Indeed - what I don't understand is wouldn't someone in the gallery or something cut away to black, or adverts - rather than zooming in on it??
It was bad enough to see it explode, but even worse as they cut live to the faces of the families of those on board.
