My friend is looking for an outfit to wear at her daughter's wedding in September and says the only ones she has seen are quite "insipid" in colour. She's about size 16-18, and on a tight budget. Any suggestions? Thank you.

Monsoon is always a good one to look on.
I have sent her masses of links to lindy bop - I think they're gorgeous, and do boleros too so that would work. She's 50s in age.
I might nudge her towards Monsoon too - I love their bright colours. In fact I might go there myself to check them out. On her behalf, of course...;-)
Monsoon dresses are very good but a bit pricey.
I'm leaning more to black butterfly myself since I found them
You don't mention when. Attached is my suggestion for very reasonable price

Hi- I know there was at least one other thread about mother of the bride but I would like to focus mainly on the dress (because I am shallow like that. not really:).
This one for example, http://www.bonmarche.co.uk/dresses/david-emanuel-dahlia-printed-cowl-neck-dress/invt/03820347
