Mother of the bride outfit

My friend is looking for an outfit to wear at her daughter's wedding in September and says the only ones she has seen are quite "insipid" in colour. She's about size 16-18, and on a tight budget. Any suggestions? Thank you.

I personally would get something from lindybop or black butterfly myself but guess it depends on how old she is or what style she is looking for

I know she's on a tight budget but everywhere seems to have a sale on a the minute so she could probably pick up a nice dress from somewhere she might not have considered looking thinking it would be too expensive for half the price.

Monsoon is always a good one to look on.

Thank you. I did tell her to look at the sales and she said most of the dresses she sees are too small - I guess the larger ones get snapped up first.

I have sent her masses of links to lindy bop - I think they're gorgeous, and do boleros too so that would work. She's 50s in age.

I might nudge her towards Monsoon too - I love their bright colours. In fact I might go there myself to check them out. On her behalf, of course...;-)

Have a look at Jacques Vert group website, they do lots of occasion wear and have the larger sizes (not all skinny minnie sizes). Also check out justlastseason.co.uk which also has all of the groups last season stuff at sale prices.

Monsoon dresses are very good but a bit pricey.

I'm leaning more to black butterfly myself since I found them :D

Hi- I know there was at least one other thread about mother of the bride but I would like to focus mainly on the dress (because I am shallow like that. not really:).

Phase Eight do some nice dresses, they are a little on the pricey side but they have a sale on at the moment. Also Debenhams have lots of choice.
