I just wonder how many in the UK have even heard of this ship outside of HMS Victory.

It looks like they are running out of mass market ideas with this one, and we're now about to be TV bombarded with a pleathora of new releases, as once again its partwork release time and will be intersting to see what else emerges..

Just out of interest, has anyone ever actually finished
a part-work? I remember my brother collecting all of
that Dinosaur part-work they issued in the 1990s
(which had a part of of a T. Rex every month. He
actually built it and it looked cool! ).

Ah, Dinosaurs, I have that one. After the plastic dinosaur was finished (which had a glow in the dark skeleton), they did a range of cards called Swap It. It was reprinted in the 2000s.

Well this one certainly took a battering in yesterday's press

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2197330/Magazine-warship-takes-longer-build-real-thing--costs-800.html

A web search throws up quite a few web sites and forums that have sprung up around builders of these things, so they must be completing them.

I think this is just a regional test in the Tyne Tees area as I haven't seen any national advertising for it.

The Beano and Dandy Collection - Hachette
    Figurines and classic strips reprinted
    Issue 1 £2.99, regular price £7.99
    Number of parts unknown

    http://www.beanoanddandy.co.uk/

I've also spotted a porcelain dolls collection and a model helicopter collection, again only in the Tyne Tees region, but don't have any other info at the moment.

Waaay back in the late 60s I bought The History Of The English Speaking Peoples, based on Winston Churchills tome. Each issue expanded on the various chapters and was very interesting (to me!). I bought the whole 7 volume series and often refer to it when there are history progs on the tele.

I specifically came on this forum to see if anyone knew how many of these were going to be published. I thought they must have been issued before when I saw volume 48 on ebay!
I can't make up my mind whether to buy this. I have acquired a large dolls house recently. If I buy all the issues I will have spent getting on for £500. However, if you buy furniture and accessories from Dolls House shops etc, it would probably come to about that anyway. The stuff is not cheap.
On the other hand, if I fill the house from catalogues and online etc I will not have to wait getting on for 2 years!
The trouble with part works is that they rarely turn up in shops like Smiths so you can't pick and choose what issue, and therefore freebie, you want.
    Decisions, decisions.

Going back to my childhood I did complete quite a few partworks.

Classic Adventures (early 1990s) - 52 Parts, Fortnightly
Tree of Knowledge (1991 Edition) - 144 Parts, Weekly
The Magical Music Box (mid 1990s) - 52 Parts, Fortnightly
Techno Quest (late 1990s) - 144 Parts, Weekly
    Wally's World (late 1990s) - 52 Parts, Weekly
Wally's History of the World - 52 Parts, Weekly

The Classic Adventures were worthy of their value as you had a magazine and hardback, leather effect book based on a classic novel. You wouldn't see this coming back with e-readers and most of the books are free anyway. Same with The Magical Music Box, it came with a cassette or CD with some classical music and a story. It's all MP3 players now.

I collected the Dinosaur one as well and I built the T-Rex! :D I also had Wally's History of the World and Mr Bean's Amazing A-Z (was that what it was called?). I also remember a computer one called PC Knowhow and my friend and her parents collected that one. Didn't do the mother any good as she was absolutely hopeless with computers and used me as the personal helpdesk

Think it is normally february time they launch, all depends on what is currently being collected and how far they have to go.

That's because Smiths will only stock the first half-dozen or so issues, after that you have to order it.

Model kit Partworks appear to have been very thin on the gorind of late and not a single release from any of the main players over the Xmas/NewYear period.

Anyone know if anything is on the horizon?
