He's just too jovial a person. He doesn't play aloof very well.
Also, gay. Well I think so anyway... even if I get shot down in flames for thinking it.

I won't shoot you down for thinking that he's gay, but I will shoot you down for thinking that it has any effect on his ability to play Darcy.
I think both leads are good, people have to remember that the characters aren't the same people they were in Pride and Prejudice, they've both settled down now and have grown as people, and I think that is being portrayed well.
and has had the responsibility of being the Mistress of pemberley for 6 years with all that it entails.
Surely if it's set 6 years after Lizzie is supposed to be around 27? (IIRC she was 20/21 in P&P). The lady playing her seems nearer 40 than 30 and I don't think she is a good choice, although I have seen her in other things and know she is a good actress.
The plot for this mustn't be up to much, if most of the comments in this thread are about the actors/actresses' looks.
Who is responsible for this rubbish? Ah just found out P D James, dear god it's an insult to the works of Austen.
Read all the books and viewed most of the tv and film adaptations but this borefest has to be the worst based on an original story but not really adaptation,
To be fair it was the first of a three parter, so most of it was setting up. I suppose if you don't really care about the various threads it introduced then it did fail but I did actually find them all quite interesting. I didn't find it hard to follow either but I suppose if you're not familiar with the original story it may have been tougher getting to grips with the characters, i'm not sure.
I must say I do love Matthew Goode as Wickham. Loved him in dancing on the egde and stoker as well, and brilliantly cast in this. He plays dangerous but charismatic very well.
It's not boring but if it's beyond you stick to East enders and spare those of us with more than half a brain cell the tedium of having to read your posts.
I came on here expecting some intelligent criticism and comments.
Wasting my time, obviously - only morons post on DS nowadays, seemingly.

I've read the book and it is very poor, not P D James at her best. The series may turn out better than the book though. Wasn't keen on the casting of Lizzie or Darcy particularly.

Oh my bad he is still alive.

She's every bit as infuriating as in the original book.
None whatsoever
Trying to recall where I've seen him before.
I think Colonel Fitzwilliam seems a bit shifty if you ask me, and I'm very intrigued to find out more about that gravestone in the woods.

Well it takes one to know one.
