One more question: earphones. I see they do Hudl earphones. Are these necessary or will any earphones work?? Daughter really wants earphones and since she listens to 1 bloody D incessantly I'm completely with her on that. Trouble is they are out of stock. Surely regular earphones will do rightly?
Yep, that's right. It's a standard 3.5mm audio connection so any ear or headphones will be fine. The extras sold by Tesco are a little pricey if you're prepared to look for alternatives on Ebay etc.
If you want to hook the Hudl up to a TV, you'll need an HDMI cable with a micro-hdmi connector on one end that plugs into the Hudl. Don't mistake that with mini-hdmi, which is slightly larger. You can get a normal HDMI cable and then look for an HDMI to micro-hdmi adaptor to slot onto the end of it. Then all you do is plug your Hudl into a spare HDMI port on your TV, change to that HDMI channel and whatever's on your Hudl will be on your TV screen.
