I listened to 'Global Domination' of that and surprisingly it was quite bearable for someone really against most stuff with gutteral vocals. I think the melody behind helped neutralize it somewhat

    It's Peter Tagtgren

We're never going to agree on vocals, are we? I like a powerful baritone with a strong Swedish accent. Or a great death growl. You like caterwauling yanks :p:D

i could be pedantic and say Tom Araya is not a yank, but that drags the thread down to other levels

not really, but i think a lot of younger metal fans seem to think that if it aint metal it aint good, i love loads of stuff that aint metal related at all, billy joel being one. They dont seem to realise that their fav bands also listen to stuff outside of their genre. I mean i like Portishead, Bjork (early stuff), R.E.M and if you read band blogs they like diff stuff.

Sorry had few beers watching england play crap so am going on a bit

Actually, I like Joel too. So does my daughter. And R.E.M. :)

My all time favourite band is Roxy Music

You're quite a bit younger than me, so I suspect it's probably the '80s roxy she likes. I prefer the '72-'75 albums.

He is very good but I love Ferry's lyrics. That man can paint with words dammit.

Anyway, I don't think Joel or Roxy really belong on a hard rock/metal thread :o

Oh, well I was half right. I'd assumed early 40s for you. Well, maybe she's into the same as me then.

Well I've paused live Hypocrisy in order to listen to it.

Yes, it's not bad, is it? You can hear the origins of what he was going to do later. That's actually rather interesting.

He looked bloody ridiculous though :D

FYI, my favourite Joel track is Goodnight Saigon.

    Oh hell, I think I'm detecting a theme :o
