I need a new show to watch. I've just got through Sons of Anarchy seasons 1 to 5 in 4 days (I've had days off), so I like shows like that. Bit of drama, comedy moments, crime can be involved etc etc.
To give you an idea of some of the shows I've seen/like:
Breaking Bad
Boardwalk Empire
The Wire
Game of Thrones
Homeland
As for comedies:
Arrested Development
Community
Happy Endings
The League
Its Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Friends
Frasier
Any suggestions as to what to watch? (the list above is not all I have watched but just an idea of what I generally watch)

Have you seen Justified? Produced by the same channel that makes Sons Of Anarchy, it fits in well with the dramas you listed.
The seventh season is/was airing in the US but 1-6 are all brilliant.
Justified I watched a couple episodes of and thought it was OK. Could give that a go but it didn't feel like a show where I thought I have to watch the next episode now.
Dexter never appealed to me but it has got great reviews/large fan base so worth a go at some point.
I'd go with
Chicago Fire
The Mob Doctor
and for comedy..
modern family
subargatory but
best of all. Big bang theory.
I would also suggest Vegas with Dennis Quaid and Michael Chiklis. It is also slowly developing but quite well written and has had some very good moments so far.
I like Modern Family, forgot to include it. Big Bang Theory I absolutely hate, I've watched it and its got very few real funny moments for me. How I met Your Mother was a show I watched till season 7, I stopped and will only watch the final 3 episodes ever. The show dropped so fast in quality it ws unreal.
Another vote for Justified, seems like I'm going to have little choice
Justified was the first one that came to my mind for you, and although it did take me the first 3 eps to get into it, it's worth sticking with it.
Justified does seem like my next watch, Mad Men is another one I considered, any good?
I've not watched Mad Men. I've also added Deadwood, Southland and Breaking Bad to my Lovefilm list.
I feel like I've got a lot of catching up to do
I definitely recommend Breaking Bad, that is excellent.
Yes, Mad Men is excellent, but it is a great deal more "genteel" than the other dramas you listed. Honestly, Justified fits in with your listed dramas extremely well in both feel and quality. Same with The Shield, which I didn't think of before because that has been over for a good while.
Have you seen The Walking Dead? That's very good.
I don't mind the sound of Mad Men. Doesn't have to be all action, just needs to be moving somewhere.
No I haven't but heard good things. But like Dexter, it never sounded "interesting" to me initially
I have just started season 2, having raced through season one in 4 days, well worth a look if you have not already seen it, love Sam Neil's work
And for comedy - The Big Bang Theory
Yeah I saw the first season of The Tudors but sort of forgot I guess about the show Though while The Borgias (pretty poor show don't get me wrong) is still on, I'll but The Tudors on hold.
The Office US the few times I've seen it has been OK, always felt like a more "obvious" comedy than the UK one
I'm not a fan of zombie/horror films, and I'm not usually one to believe the hype some shows are built upon,so I didn't think TWD would be for me. But I'm glad that the overwhelming praise and reviews for the show swayed me enough to want to check it out, as I knew I'd kick myself for not giving it a chance.
I managed to get past the zombie gore quite quickly, and it turned out to be one that I couldn't wait to see the next week.
And yes, S2 doesn't have as many zombies in it, but the focus is on all the development on the characters, which made it just as compelling for me.

Have you tried "Friday Night Lights" Don't let the American Football scenario put you off. It's much more about small town America. My knowledge of the NFL is minimal but I love it. Also what about "The Good Wife" ? A legal drama where the good guys don't always win-just like real life!
