My rather weak link, also rather apt given the above posters user name, is that my day was on set during the Volcano scene in 'You Only Live Twice' as he was part of the fire brigade team there in case it all went wrong. One morning he had his breakfast sitting opposite Donald Pleasence who was wearing his full Blofeld makeup. :D

Just got back from the cinema with my wife
she absolutely loved it and gave it 9/10

I thought Casino Royale was far better... this one is an enjoyable yarn but the plot is pretty Ludicrous in places, which I wont go into
without doubt Daniel Craig is the best Bond of the Lot but
    because of the plot failings
    7/10

Quantum of Solice was truly awful and got 3/10

Casino Royale 9/10 best Bond film ever

Some of you have very narrow minded views of young people.

We're young, therefore we won't enjoy this.

How stupid can some of you be?

Indeed. I took my 14yo daughter to see this. She loved it.

I thought quantum of solace was bad !!! Tedious in the extreme,. 2 and a half hours. Used to enjoy the old bonds. humour (missing here) gadgetsm girls...non stop action.
Only action is at the beginning 10 mins and 20 mins at the end. The rest is a mundane rubbishy plot. Not for kids either. The ones in our cinema were really restless. Boring !

well the older bonds had action dotted all the way through, some nice set pieces. Nothing out the ordinary action wise in this either. No jumping out of planes or exciting chases. Skiing off mountains, cresta runs, etc.

    Dotted action then ;)

So you didn't find a rooftop bike chase followed by driving a digger over cars on top of a moving train then climbing out of the digger and up the digger to jump into the train through the hole that was created by the digger that was driven over the cars on the moving train exciting?

Was okay but not the over the top action im used to with the old bonds. The old bonds you can watch over and over and see something new.
Doubt if i want to see this more than once.
That was the only bit of action until the last 15 mins...films seemed to last ages.

It's predecessor set the bar too high for it to live up to.

One of the things I've heard rumoured for the next films is that they are, again, looking at a two-parter. If true I really hope they have enough strength in the plot for the second film.

I disagree I'm already planning to watch it again as I'm sure I've missed some of the subtlety

Not a spoiler as it's mentioned frequently, but Bond is shot and (apparantly) falls to his death off a high railway bridge in Turkey. Post titles, and three months later, JB is now in South-East Asia (Thailand? Borneo?) getting drunk and over-friendly with a dusky beach beauty.

I enjoyed the movie, but feel the travelogue aspect of these two locations is a bit excessive. How did he survive, have his injuries tendered, and travel several thousand miles to a different continent for R+R and rumpy pumpy?

Love it when people invoke deus ex machina not only incorrectly but also when the 'plot hole' in question is clearly explained if you're actually paying attention.

FGS, no need to speak to the poster as if they have personally insulted you. They said they enjoyed the film, but then went on to list some minor niggles they had with it. This is a discussion forum after all, so if you take issue with a post discuss it, don't demean it.

My biggest grip with Q-o-S- was all the complete in your face camera footage with endless minutes of shakey running of camcorder style footage

Dont hear the reason how Bond was pulled from the water. How the villain got out of his prison. It was too slow for me

I agree with everything you say. I feel this film has been overhyped and hasn't lived up to my high expectations. I loved Casino Royale, definitely the best Bond film I've ever seen and Daniel Craig should have won an Oscar for it. He showed every side of Bond in that film and made him a real rounded human being, as well as a lethal killing machine.

Just got back from Cinema and have to say that I much preferred Casino Royale

For me this lacks..zero chemistry with the so called bond girls. Far too many One liners and no real dialogue...A mish mash of places with little or no meaning to the main plot. Way too much screen time for Dame Judi...All in all not as good as I was expecting....

Totally agree with all of the above.
Just got home from the cinema and feeling a little flat if I'm honest. I think I'll just leave it at that and let people make there own minds up.

Was just watching a bit of You Only Live Twice today and remembered that has a bit where Bond "apparently" falls to his death and is buried at sea...

Anybody citing overly high expectations due to hype... well... you didn't have to go along for the ride.

    Something I will say... [spoilers]
The scotch quip after Severine's execution seemed so out of place...

...and I'm sure going to miss Dench, especially since my first Bond was Goldeneye. Glad they beefed up the role for the 50th. But Fiennes will be great as the more classic take on the character, I'm sure.

I guess the original Dench 'M' is still alive and hanging out with Brosnan in an alternate reality.

The new Q made me livid, seemed to be taking the piss out of the late Desmond Llewelyn with one of the comments. Part of the charm of Bond is the gadgets but this **** really added nothing to the film. The guys that made it must think the sun shines out of their arse, seemed like they watched Nolan's Batman movies and thought no one would notice Bond doing the same shit.

Never like Daniel Craig and never think a proper Bond film will be made again.

I really enjoyed the movie right up until the ending, which left a real bitter taste.
The whole plot of the film was about saving M. All that struggle for nothing. So her death...

...for me made the film a complete waste of time!
