Where are you staying?
We've got tickets booked to see 'O' in June. There's still heaps of tickets available, but we're glad we booked as we managed to get really good seats.
I'd advise getting them in advance, if you can.
Im staying at the Mandalay Bay.
Where did u book tickets from?
Hope you have a great time!
Good choice, very nice Hotel, lovely pool and nice casino (if you're a gambler). I spent 3 hours in there while my wife and daughter saw Mamma Mia and it was lovely.
Get yourself a Deuce bus pass though unless you're driving as it's a bit south of most attractions, you can get the free monorail to get a bit closer as well though.
I've just come back from the Mandalay Bay! It was bigger than the town I live in! The rooms were amazing with three tellies - one in the bathroom would you believe.
Las Vegas is the weirdest place ever but you'll have fun. Be prepared to spend loads.
I really want to see Mamma Mia, but I've got the feeling it has finished now. Was it recently you went?
Haha yeah i heard about the tv's! How did you find the hotel? Ive heard its at the end of the strip, is it still quite easy to get to all the attractions etc? How far is it from the airport?
Sorry, can't help with the airport advice - we were on a fly-drive.
It is at the end of the strip and walking anywhere is exhausting. You can get a mono-rail (free) to the Luxor and Excalibur which are the next two along but it's still pretty difficult to cover much distance on foot. However, you can get a 24 hour bus ticket for 7 dollars (I think) and travel up and down the strip on that. You can also use the bus to get to downtown but we were told it's not safe to use the bus from there at night. Taxis are easy to pick up from any hotel but it works out pretty expensive if you use them a lot.
It's probably best to plan things around a few hotels that are close together and try to do as much of the free stuff as possible. As far as I could tell, the casinos were all the same - once you've seen one!
We liked the Mandalay Bay- it's two hotels rolled into one (not sure why they made a distinction) and there's a walk through to the Luxor. They're selling tickets now for the Lion King and I think that starts in May. The pool looked good and they have a shark exhibit but you have to pay for that.
It was everything you're told about Las Vegas but you have to see it for yourself to really get it. Hope you have a great time.
Aw, have a fab time! I'm going on my honeymoon too. Have a look at my old thread. http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=999090
People were really helpful giving me advice about what to do and see!
Yes think it's finished now. You could always check on the Mandalay Bay website. We went this time last year.
5 days is a nice amount. We went for a week and could have stayed longer, but generally most people find 5 days is enough.
When's your honeymoon?
I've been to Vegas a couple of times and just got back from a trip to San Francisco, which is a fantastic place. Some other stuff to do worth mentioning imo:
Vegas - day trip to the grand canyon, you can get a helicopter flight from Vegas that takes you there in 45 mins or so, fairly expensive but still worth it.
Other shows - the Cirque to Soleil ones have lots of performances so you can usually get tickets while you are there, but other shows with fewer performances can sell out far in advance so its worth checking who else is on. Last time I was there the Killers and Travis both played one off shows, I only found out when I got there by which time the Killers had already sold out. Previous time I was there Gerry Sienfeld did a stand up show at Caesars Palace which I did manage to get tickets for and which was brilliant.
San Francisco - you can do a boat trip to Alcatraz Island which is really good but which can sell out up to a week in advance, so it's well worth pre-booking tickets.
Mandalay Bay is very near to the airport, one of the closest Hotels if I remember.
You can get a Deuce bus pass, which last year was $5 for 24 hours, that goes all along the strip and downtown so will get you nearly everywhere you would want to go. Traffic is very slow on the Strip though so bear that in mind.
We did the sunset helicopter trip to the Grand Canyon - it was fantastic but hellish expensive.
I can also recommend the Penn & Teller show at the Rio - best ever.
I have, I think it's been replaced with the Lion King
The start of June, I'm literally counting down the weeks now!
I'm just back from my honeymoon to San Francisco/Vegas/NY. Had a great trip. San Francisco was my favourite, probably because I'd been to NY before though.
Fab place, would go again anyday - even if you aren't gamblers!!!
Have fun and write about if for us when you get back.:)
I stayed at the Mandalay Bay when I was doing a road trip of the west coast. It was the best hotel I stayed in, and the cheapest!
