Love quinn, he has good weeks and bad weeks but he is good value. Binnie was on fire this week. Sorry to see Trueblood go, he was carrying that team, but he needed them this week.
Here's a poem I writtened for the dearly departed captain of the unjustly not-winning side.
So. Farewell, Trueblood. One of the few cute male contestants.
Your blood was true but your team was not.
The constant fidgeting with your hoodie strings was almost not entirely annoying.
Alas, it's goodbye from you - goodbye.
For me, It not as if Quinn was arrogant as some have assumed, it just that he seemed in such pain struggling to listen to the questions and try to buzz in early as possible I suspect.
Well said Lenitive. Now that Trueby's bitten the dust, I'm cheerleading for the splendid Morgan-Thomas of Durham.
I'm sure the Glimmer Twins of Magdalen will win the day. Quinn is impressive but his disdainful facial expressions - and I'm sure he doesn't mean them to be - creep me out.
Binnie is just phenomenal.

I'm not sure that Trueblood isn't just a teeny little bit overrated here. He is their best contestant, but Smith was fantastic in the last round - I think he answered rather more questions than Trueblood. Trueblood's excellent at the medical questions (although if he was operating on me, I think I'd first want to make sure he didn't have any tassels on his coat!), but there weren't many of those last night. He knows plenty of other things as well, but he and Smith were really the mainstays of that team. It's just a shame for them that both had a slightly flat programme. And Binnie and Quinn made quite the dynamic duo. (If they win the final, will they be the first University Challenge winners to have lost a game earlier in the tournament?)
And is it just me, or is anyone else getting the idea that Quinn is a raving trot? Twice this week there were questions about left-wing politics, and on both occasions Quinn's team-mates all tittered and looked straight across at him as though they knew he was the only one qualified to answer.. Not withstanding his politics, I like his no-glares barred approach to quizzing.

Probably not, but she could have been as thick as two short planks and I'd have still watched the programme.
I really can't remember the year, but I bet it was well over 5 years ago now. Even after so long I remember that after every question she used to do a little stretch thing, arching her back. It was magical, and appears to be seared into my consciousness now.

No, there's been several teams that have lost earlier. Previous winners have also included one team (possibly 2) that have lost their first round match but gone through as highest runners-up.

I fear the Durham team are destined to be the plucky losers (and will likely get trounced), and the final will be a rematch between Magdalen and Gonville and Caius.

His facial expressions are exaggerated, seems to be just a somewhat peculiar personal trait, don't think there is anything to read further into. I rather like oddball people like that.

Quinn reminds me so much of the delightful CJ on Eggheads - now there's disdain for you!
Having just googled her, it seems she got a fair bit on online abuse at the time. Chaps just don't like a clever lady it seems, even now in the 21st C.

Thanks for that. Seems something of a contradiction in terms, but..
