By any chance, does anyone have an overnight rating for a reality series that aired at 10pm on Challenge tv last night called TNA British Bootcamp?

Good figure for EastEnders shame the episode itself was crap. Still given the cliffhanger i exect Thursday todo well (Plus Tanya & Max are back) And the Double Friday for Dereks funeral so people will tune in to see how that goes.Dot & Janine back in a few weeks so that should ensure some viewers stick with the main showing.

1 day in, I think we've already had 2013's highest rating film. Robin Hood did well too, considering the competition and the late finish.

    Including +1:

    22:00 - 53k (0.2%)
    22:30 - 52k (0.3%)

Both fairly below the slot average.

This is EastEnders' problem. Good event episode and then the follow up episodes drive people off as they aren't very good. The same thing happened last year after Pat's funeral. The writers need to step it up or ratings will tail off again.

The writers write. The producers and story team storyline.

Clearly producers had given Jo/Jake some well earned time off as Max & Tanya went on their honeymoon on boxing day to try and sort things out.The story continues Thursday and then into Mid January with a return and exit for the Brannings.

    Not quite.

The writers contribute story ideas that are assessed by the producer, who has final say. The story team plot the agreed stories. The producer signs off the storylines. The writers then write scripts based on the storylines.

So it's a team thing. In theory. Obviously, John Yorke would need to be factored into the mix for the episodes currently being shown, as he was, ahem, very involved in what happened on EastEnders. So maybe he's the one at fault?

Ah, but will Miranda overtake the Christmas Eve episode of Mrs Brown's Boys? That finished with 11.68m, so Miranda is still a bit short...

Great Cliffhanger though. I enjoyed it. The show is a lot better that it was I tell you.

:D Maybe it's my imagination, but I'm connecting your username and John Yorke. Are you always slagging him off?
Since I heard of his leaving EE has gone from unwatchable to untransmittable :D

Ratings will tail off, over the festive season folks will watch any old tat hence high ratings for the soaps and Miranda:p,

Now we return to normality and are sober again viewing habits will return to normal.

EE will be back to its usual 7.3 million before the month is out, Emmers will settle at 6 million and Corrie will be ahead on 8.3 million.

I think EastEnders is getting a lot better.

It deserved to do well last night.

I hope the ratings keep staying healthy for them.

Yog - thanks for the numbers.

Could you confirm the ITV1 figures without +1, as we need that to confirm the final placings. Was Strictly ahead of Downton and Corrie?

Looks very close! Could be a top 5 clean sweep for BBC1!
