This is not, who you wish or hope will win the WC, but what your gut instinct tells you.

I've asked for a poll from DS so we can really see what the figures look like and it also allows you the chance to state who you think will win without being laughed at by other posters - you can remain anonymous :)

    brazil.

i've convinced myself that brazil will meet spain in the 2nd round (and not the final as most believe) and brazil will not only knock them out but then go on to win it yet again.

Spain and Brazil can't even be a final I don't think, they're both in the same half of the draw. Or am I wrong? :o

Barring their traditional World Cup underperformance I'll go for Spain.

If they both win their groups then they can't meet until the final.

My gut instinct is that Spain will blow it. Don't fancy Brazil either.

Have this nagging feeling about those Germans and it won't go away.

I patriotically voted for England. Although I'd suspect it'll be Spain.

I was first to vote! England were at 100%! :D

The team that beats Spain at the WC will be the team that wins it IMO.

In each group the winner and runner-up go into opposite halves of the draw, so in theory any final is possible.

As for the original question, although I think Spain have the best squad, the fact that no European nation has ever won a World Cup outside Europe pulls me towards saying Brazil.

Countries like Honduras, New Zealand and North Korea ought not to be appearing in these polls.

The fact they have a combined 15% of the votes so far is clearly a complete wind up on the part of those voting for them and throws the poll into disrepute.

Spain look very hot favourites to win it assuming they don't go all moody. If they don't win then it look a very open tournament indeed with no other outstanding sides really sticking out.

I went for Italy. Spain have a history of letting down expectations (although this may have been eradicated by Euro 2008)

    11 people picked England?

just Like with England, Spain have always underperformed in World Cups but Ithink this time they stand a very good chance of winning it.

I know they haven't been brilliant recently, but I think a shock winner in Argentina.:)

I think Brazil are the best team in the tournament - not the most attractive, but they've become superb at grinding out results under Dunga. The biggest question mark over them is the draw in my opinion. In comparison to Argentina, England and Germany they have potentially quite a tough run to the semi-finals.

That did cross my mind, too. It would be just like them. Bloody awful in qualifying but get it perfectly right for the finals.

Spain for me!! Though you can never write off the Germans. They always seem to reach at least the semis no matter how good or bad thier team is, they have the knack for it!! Same goes for Brazil and the Argies. Can't realistically see England winning it though, we don't have the strentgh in depth like the Spainish do. We don't have the likes of Fabregas, etc to come off the bench. And I do worry up front if Rooney gets injured!!

A Messi inspired Argentina to win it. Tevez is on fire too...
