Due know if it's possible to have a youview box in the living room linked by HDMI to the bedroom TV and and a magic eye to control the TV in the bedroom?

I've not looked into this too deeply, but Magic Eye doesn't work with Youview, I think you can get a modulator to do this?

BT does do a TV Everywhere option for £5 per month that gives you a mini Youview box for another room.

Re. Magic Eye and Youview, an add-on RF modulator box is needed, which plugs into the Youview box SCART socket. This is because the Youview RF socket does not output anything from itself, it just passes the aerial signal through. I have one of these to allow my Youview output to be distributed throughout the house (via coax cables in the walls): http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B000M6SMKW but a Magic Eye could in theory be used with it, too, though I do not have magic eye.

The one thing I'd miss if I cancelled Sky is Eurosport HD. I don't live in a Virgin cable area. Do I have any options?
    Eurosport player maybe

I would have thought there's a straightforward reliable way of controlling the youview box from a 2nd room by IR in much the same way that sky's magic eye does.

I'd hate to commit to a youview box and an IR extender and find I can't operate it from the bedroom.

HDMI splitter, 0.5m HDMI cable from box to splitter, 2xHDMI cables, one to lounge, the other to second room, then for remote operation an HDMI IR extender or Powermid - optional second remote.

Cost will be less than one month's Sky Subscription.

    HDMI Splitter - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cablesson-SPLITTER-Amplifier-Nintendo-Displays/dp/B0042KY0GY

    HDMI ir extender - http://ukhdmi.com/ir-over-hdmi-kit_QQ103095

    Powermid - http://www.amazon.co.uk/Marmitek-PowerMid-XL-infrared-extender/dp/B000GIXH42

I already have an HDMI splitter which connects my 2nd TV by HDMI to my sky box.
I typed in IR extender in Amazon and not this lot http://www.amazon.co.uk/s/ref=nb_sb_noss_2?url=search-alias%3Dcomputers&field-keywords=IR%20extender
    problem is
    a – I don't know what I'm doing
    b – I'm in a wheelchair so can't do anything myself

apart from that it should all be easy.

Wow, £110 a month! Nothing any triple play service offers is worth that. You must watch TV all the time if you think its worth paying anything close to that (even if it does include phone and BB).

We have the most basic VM TiVo package (More TV) and also have a Now TV box to give a bit of flexibility, and will subscribe to Netflix for a month now and then. I like the flexibility and not being tied to contracts. Our standard bill comes in at £43 a month for TiVo, BB and phone.

Isnt NOW TV owned by Sky?

Yes but much cheaper as you aren't paying for the satellite infrastructure (satellite transmission costs, dishes, installation staff, sky hd boxes etc.)

BT has both Eurosport channels in HD.

that's for everything – sky phone line/broadband/entertainment package/sports/movies/+ any sky box office movies I watch = £110 per month minimum, add-on a few extra movies and a boxing = last month £140!

While Sky do provide a very comprehensive package, it does come at great expense. I'd suggest looking at BT Youview and you get all 3 BT Sport channels included for free if you've signed up to BT broadband plus you can access Netflix and even Sky Movies.

Depending upon what your specific circumstances are, BT offer a BT Basic package that covers a landline phone plus limited broadband and the BT Sports app and online player only - http://www.bt.com/includingyou/bt-basic-broadband.html.

Yes I am tempted by the BT youview package + infinity 1 + extra youview box. Problem is I can't establish for definite if I can buy sky sports day passes with BT youview (which should have TV which does sports and movies day passes).

Plusnet have started their tv no sports at moment except for eurosport 1 and 2 but it's £5p/m for 15 channels plus you get your freeview channels and a Youview box, only catch it it is only available to fibre customers but works out at £38.60p/m (ish) for tv, fibre, phone evening and weekend calls.
Regarding bt sport if you got a bt mobile sim card you'd get bt sport included only online or app though.

It might indeed be possible to combine BT Youview with a Sky Now TV box (cost = £20 from a number of retailers - https://www.google.co.uk/?gws_rd=ssl#tbm=shop&q=buy+now+tv+box+only) and they have £7 day passes and £10 week passes for Sky Sports.

As I understood it a nowTV app was incorporated in the youview box and you didn't need a physical now TV box as well.
Can't get a clear answer from BT about whether you can have their youview box in room 1 with HDMI splitter and cable going to room 2 so that the one youview box can be viewed from TV 1 or TV 2 and operated by remote control. I've had suggestions on this forum but no definitive answer from someone using this setup. My disability prevents me setting anything up so I also have to find an installer of some description.

if it wasn't for these 2 issues I would order one tomorrow.

    Maybe because it is illegal?

Gary, I can't answer your question about the splitter.

But having Youview I can tell you that the NowTV on the Youview box is not fully functional. You can use it for catch up and box sets, but there are no live feeds on this platform, so you can't watch channels as they are broadcast.
If I want to watch Sky One, Living, Atlantic etc, I use the NowTV App on my Roku 3 Box. So you would need at least a NowTV box which is a lot cheaper than a Roku 3.

Have a read of this about streamers:

Just clearly ring up and say your leaving as its way too expensive.

They will deffo cut your bill and make you an offer if you spend that much with them.

Otherwise keep paying it and stop moaning as you seem to have demands others can't fully meet ..so sky is clearly what you want.

"moaning" – I'm trying to get advice from people who know more about these things than me, but thanks for your constructive Recommendation.

    You can, but it's expensive:

    http://www.productsandservices.bt.com/products/add-tv/?s_cid=con_ppc_maxus_vidZ60_T1&vendorid=Z60&gclid=COzjm-fa3MUCFYPHtAodTXoAGA&gclsrc=aw.ds&dclid=CN3wrufa3MUCFY1_fAodgkwA7Q

Persoanlly speaking, Youview+ (the ability to be able to record) is cheaper with TalkTalk.
