  I think that YouTube is adding this 'functionality' into Youtube also to help with their revenue stream

  It would be far more lucrative if ITV used their technological prowess and uploaded 1080p clips instead.
  
  Dropped their adverts altogether.
  
  Adverts won't work- Youtube is about instant access.
  
  Adverts will be avoided, by everyone.
  
  It's not telly- no one will treat Youtube as telly

  Ads have been happening on YouTube for a while now. Before a lot of music videos, before a lot of popular and highly viewed videos. It's nothing new.
