Nvidia 550TI 4K TV

Hi i wonder if anyone can help me would a Nvida 550TI be ok to use on a 4K TV now im not talking about gaming as i know the cards defo now upto 4K gaming,
But would it run windows and MEdia (films tv etc) in 4k ok, I use my TV as a monitor for space saving reasons and the fact i dont use my PC half as much as i used to and when i do its mainly for the media playback using plex home theater so seams pointless having a separate monitor,
Im now wanting to update my TV to a 4K one (been looking at a Samsung HU6900 ) so would i be able to keep using my current card and run in 4K or would i need to update my card at the same time, obviously i could just run it in 1080p still but from past experience windows never seams to look right when its not at the native resolution of the panel

2560x1600 , where 4K is apparently 3840 X 2160
