I don't think that you are correct. Can you point to an authoritative source for your assertion?

as soon as you TOUCH a phone you will be said to be using the phone, even if its in satnav mode or not.

wonder if i can get the bbc radio link to the show , i will have a look.

when is a phone sat nav hands free, again if you are seen at any point to interact with the phone (even if its in a holder) you will be done. yet as the law says "It’s not illegal to use hands-free phones, sat-navs (satellite navigation systems)"

so unless you can turn you mobile phones sat nav to night mode by voice only you will have to as some point touch it lol

"Hands-free" means, in this context, the opposite of "hand-held".

The definition of "hand-held" published by the AA is:

Hand-held device – something that "is or must be held at some point during the course of making or receiving a call or performing any other interactive communication function".

    From http://www.theaa.com/motoring_advice/legal-advice/mobile-phones.html

So, if a device is captive in a holder or is installed, one can operate it as long as it does not involve holding it - as long as one remains in proper control of the vehicle.

try this, its not the bit about satnav in cars , i think that might have been on another show, go to about 10 mins in, at some point a guy says that he got done for turning his phone off when driving, now i understand that as he could have just left it on.

i will still try and hunt down the sat nav bit, might not have been on the same day or show.
