There is a sky advert saying that you set your sky+ from your mobile, it directs you to the website - worth a go! That or letting someone have the key and setting it for you ;)

    How is everyone today? :)

I've been on a job hunt, I think it went well. Hopefully I'll hear something back soon.

    Also, anybody see this?

I wish I'd had a chance to see Pygmalion, but I don't think I will now, I leave London at the end of the week.

Glad to see the step is still about, even if has been needed to be re-carpeted.

Interesting yo hear the names being banter about.
Just got back from Cornwall and getting my head back into a normal routine (including popping on here!)

Oooh, look at us, on part 2. That's a whole lot of inane chatter lads and lassies!

I saw that DM article about Kara and Artem - very jellus of Kara. I hope it lasts, they make a lovely couple.

Did anybody see the other DM article saying that Edwina Currie is a contestant this year?

    Clicky

Not sure how I feel about that - I think she might surprise in the ballroom but I'm kind of dreading her latin. How much do you want to bet that she's partnered with Anton?

It will be Widdie part two and I ranted and ranted about her last year...... I wanted to like everyone this year.

Oooh, part two, that's a lot of chat and biscuits :)

    Morning Steppers.

Can't stop long, have a specialist's appt at 9am, and still need to shower and have some breakfast, luckily the medical centre is only a short walk away, and once it's over I've got all day to play.

Part 2 - pretty good timing for the start of the new series!

I have to admit I think Edwina Currie will be rather better than Ann Widdecombe as a personality. I tend to put political opinions aside for these shows as it is irrelevant to how they can dance. I think she will actually take it seriously for starters. I was more cross with Widdy for her stinking attitude than her lack of dance ability. Whether Edwina will be a good dancer is impossible to know...or at this stage whether the rumour is actually true.
I suspect that a politician will feature in every series now since precedent has been set by both last series and the Christmas special. In the interests of fairness they ought to have asked a labour politician, but maybe they did and all turned it down.

Other names still not especially exciting me. Oh well, I'm sure I'll get into it anyway. I never know who most of the celebs are anyway.

Do we have any names yet, apart from Jason, Nancy and Edwina? I know Richard Madeley ISN'T doing it, he's tweeted that he's got too many radio commitments

Me too, I am SO pleased someone else has finally admitted to doing the same. I think thats fair but so many people vote for the wrong reasons. Because of biased views, or tanked up stories from the media, or just because they think the person is good looking or something

It always annoys me on these sorts of shows when people do that. I remember one year when Heather Mills was on Dancing On Ice and my best mate said he hopes she's out because he hates her. I just thought that was ridiculous when he hadnt even seen her dance yet, and was just jumping on the band wagon with the media. At least watch the person first and then decide if you like them. Personality and popularity does make a difference to a degree but when its based just on that it makes a mockery of the show and the process

Well I make no apologies for the fact that my opinion of Widdie was clouded by her political views. I could not bring myself to appreciate the pathetic efforts of someone who has such neanderthal views on life. She is anti gay, anti abortion, disagrees with the ordination of women and thinks women prisoners in labour should be shackled to the bed.

She also didn't enter into the spirit of the show and made no effort to "dance". Being lumbered around the floor is no substitute for actually trying.

    Rant over :)

Hope all you Norties are well this lovely morning .... here's some choccy cake for your delectation.

Although I have pre-conceived ideas about some of the contestants, it doesn't cloud my judgement (that's the wrong word, but I can't think of the correct one!) of them once they start dancing, if that makes sense.

I did apologise for my rant, but it boils my p1ss to see an odious old bat like Widdie repackaged for a new generation as a loveable old dear who's game for a laugh.

If Edwina is on at least she will give it her best shot and actually try to enter the process. The only thing I don't like about her is the fact she had an affair with John Major, which shows a serious lack of judgement on her behalf.

Edit : jude, thanks for the tip about sky+ xx

    Agree with all that Button.

If Edwina stays in until Halloween, she won't even have to dress up :D

Back on the important subject of cakes and biscuits, the great british bakeoff was back last night. Interesting but feel a very inferior cake maker now! Maybe a more inferior feeling than last year.
