It is slightly complicated in that Anand Lal Shimpi is Anandtech, though apparently his 'retirement' in order to 'work for Apple has been in the planning for at least 12 months.

Apple has NOT bought AnandTech which continues to be an independent reviews site. They have hired Brian Klug and Anand Lal Shimpi who was the founder and soul of AnandTech for a long time.

However, it is clear for anyone to see that he has been winding down his involvement and AnandTech has a wide range of writers now working for it who will continue the torch.

You might want to read the article you post before making up the headline.

Well, I'm sure I read a fair few comments that Anand owns the site.
He even chose his 'successor', so are you trying to tell me he now does not own it ?
Apple employing him is much like same as Microsoft employing that Foss Patents guy who kept telling us about his good work on Foss.

Saying that, no one knows what his job remit is. Helping make Apple appear more forthcoming would be ideal, but the so far secretive nature of his employment maybe precludes that.

Unlikely he will join Apple but who in a million years thought Anand would?

Seems the AnandTech web site itself is now sold and part of the 'Toms Hardware' stable.
