Train driving assessment question
Hello,
Next week I will be going to an assessment centre to conduct a train driver examination which consists of various tests such as mechanical comprehension and 'Group-Bourdon' test. However, I am having trouble finding any additional mechanical comprehension questions online to work through. I have already tried various books, but they usually offer approx 10 questions, so would anyone else know of sites where I might be able to practice further on?
Also, has anyone every gone through the whole train driver process?
Many thanks
T.

Good luck for next week. Although im a retired driver, I am unable to help you with what to expect. For the simple reason, we didnt go through this American idea in my day.
Im giving you a link, join; go into Drivers section, and im sure the New Drivers will only be to pleased to give you advice, and what to expect

Please let us know how you get on and, if possible (if it's not too cheeky), what sort of thing he should expect!
Oh, and GOOD LUCK
I want to reply 'google' to many questions I see on DS!

I think there is a forum on there also for rail employees. They should be able to help.
The link that I posted, has Drivers on there. In fact all Railway Grades, and retired members!
Many thanks for that!
I am dreading it to be honest - never thought some of the tests could be so hard! I'm trying to revise some GCSE Physics, but its just not sinking in!

Was the job advertised to people outside the company? Or was it something only offered internally.
Only asking as i hope to become a train driver in the not too distant future.
Thanks.
This was offered externally as I am currently in my last year at Uni and I have applied to a TOC's graudate program which means I have to take this test to get, at least considered, into the program.
You can forget all your uni knowledge, you need basic mechanical comprehension - (nothing too advanced), concentration and awareness.
if you can hold your nerve and with a bit of luck it doesn't take a genius - saying that I got the 2nd highest score ever
Any possible hints you can give by any chance?

In all honesty, any hints can be given elsewhere; where more Drivers have gone through the assessment.
But of course its up to you!
Just thought i'd give a little update. Well, thankfully I passed! It was quite tough seeing as I had not done any type of exam like that before however it was a interesting experience.
I now have my medical in a few days and am not sure what to expect!
