Dance Nation TV is Failing

I like Dance Music but this channel really sets a bad example for Dance Music.

The Flaunt channel was better as it didnt focus much on those awful pop remixes and cheesy Clubland garbage.

It was a mistake to kill off Flaunt.

The playlists every day offer the same tripe that can be viewed on the 20+ music channels we currently have.

I don't mind the channel, but then I like all sorts of music i.e happy hardcore, hardcore, cheesy dance, scooter, goa trance, vocal trance, hard house etc. Though I do prefer the older stuff.

You do realise Dance Nation is from MoS? Clubland is from AATW

But on that subject: a few years ago AATW was the home of trash with most of it artists coming from NW England/Liverpool (Ultrabeat, N Trance, Flip and Fill) but they've grown and improved a lot since then. Their two biggest hits this year, Duck Sauce and Yolanda Be Cool, are both from outside the UK and not 'typical' AATW signings. They've also done well with N-Dubz.. although they're not dance per-se.

But what has MOS UK got to play dance wise thesedays? Data is the only decent thing but all really 06 content.

I think the older clubland compilations are better everytime a new one comes out just less and less dance.

Dance nation is all AATW acts.

Dance music is not popular in the charts right now due to R&B music.

And that statement about Flaunt is not true. They played more Basshunter and Cascada remixes. Flaunt played more disco too. It's time to get over the nostalgia it was a weak channel, more rebrands than a cup of tea. All be it it had the odd "Trance" show even that was the same playlist week in week out.

Mostly dated content but no one seems to think that here.

I was surprised to see David Deejay - I can feel & DJ Layla - Single Lady on Dance Nation these arnt MOS or AATW unless its sourced direct from Romania?

I like Dance Music but this channel really sets a bad example for Dance Music.

I Have to agree though it does give the viewer a bad view of dance music.

I Just cant believe they've completely brushed away the old proper dance tracks flaunt used to play during the 2004 - to mid 2008 era which havent been seen since.

The tracks they get to show on Dance Nation are not good as i find there's too many of these Urban Acts on them which have no place being there.

The channel ifself is beyond a joke though and i expected better because Ministry of Sound are behind it but it seems to me that they only made this brand just to take on Clubland for its viewers and clearly not working No Suprise! there really , as they already have their home while we the real dance fans are like put out in the cold.

The Channel it self is much too reliant on its own label which is restricting the other labels what Flaunt used to have.

Although the only show that i find fairly decent sometimes is National Anthems as it seems to have 1 or 2 tracks that i like but nowhere as good as Flaunt with their 'Classics' strand which was filled with all good tracks.

Those idents are very generic to have had copied again the Clubland style with the music and its theme.

To get those figures up again they need to start slowly brushing away this 'Dance Nation' branding and stop being soo reliant to the actual 'Dance Nation' label it self as it is close to being as bad as AATW.

A Full Proper Dedicated EDM & Lifestyle Channel could work if the person behind the channel who is a 'purist dance fan ' like my self which would turn the channel in the right direction.

MTV Dance is also to blame though with their poor figures and poor playlists by day but its not as bad in the early hours but again its not the channel it once was in 2001-2007 era.
Dance music is not popular in the charts right now due to R&B music.

That maybe true but a dance channel it self should not take any notice of the Top 40 Charts.

Nope this channel plays more Basshunter sounds just look at the idents and the playlists in Destination Dance and Bass in Ur Face.

Flaunt was more of a dance channel in my eyes as i saw more obscure mix of dance classics and the european house it had going there in 2006 and 2007.

DNTV also plays alot more Arman van buuren these days too.

Only In & Out of Love which is not really best track from Armin dispite it getting over 65 million views on you tube this is due to his popularity in the EDM scene.

Sky music channels dont play any other armin van bureen .

All the channels play the horrible mix of in and out of love.

Like the above poster said armin has much better tracks.

I dont know how anyone can stick up for dance nation like linkin park 875 . Whats sooo good about it ?

I mean all the sky music channels have the worst sound quality , bitrates and are soo americanized with the same USA RNB 20 songs look at cstv and emap so many adverts aswell just makes them unwatchable.

Like on the MTV UK channels this official dance chart. How are these songs classed as dance like a rapper going on about QVC or something with Sweedish House Mafia .

too smash hits doesnt even make a effort with the old uk stuff. Like the hits was pretty good in 2004 - 2005 but uk wasnt as urban then .

Smash Hits hasnt been the same since Bauer and Channel4 took control of it along with the rest of the box television channels which have become too american just look at 4music with the awful tracks they play day in day out.

It was a new track I never got the name of it though.
I mean all the sky music channels have the worst sound quality , bitrates and are soo americanized with the same USA RNB 20 songs look at cstv and emap so many adverts aswell just makes them unwatchable.

That I do agree on. But looking at the bigger picture, broadcasting and so on. CSC moved all these channels onto one transponder on the cheap after buying Sky's stake. They also launched 3 or 4 new 24 hour channels so soon the bitrates looked dire as does the sound. Compare Chart Show TV to The Vault and you can see where the bitrate is shared. Some are higher than others.

And yes too many adverts you got it right there. So why can't DNTV play dance charts all day? 'Advertising window' 3pm - 6pm is that slot hence why it's always commercial. I remember posting about C4/Bauer's channels all had adverts but one Chanel of there's.

Let's be honest about what the DNTV rebrand has done. More of there labels yes but none of the disco, R&B music that CSC wanted to play. Trance is not a large part of the schedule either though. The channel is basically there alternative to Clubland TV.

If it's an issue don't watch. Flaunt was a weak player branding wise back in the day when Clubland TV stole all the viewers. As much as DNTV has not been a success there own downfall is 9 months after launch there's been no schedule changes little effort to attract audiences. Maybe works for Clubland but really they have to be better than them. Last time I heard MTV Dance gets more viewers ironically most of it's teatime output is R&B/Dancey tracks. They have to make money at the end of the day Flaunt was never going to last.

Wishful thinking hoping for a new dance channel. If it shuts they will probably launch a pop channel in it's place and ignore the gen ere. They done the same with indie with The Amp. It could be possible to return back to just MTV Dance so let's not lose sight of reality.

Pop Party Channel looks to be a future channel i see according to their website which has the logo featured in the line up portfolio.

As long as it doesnt become another MTV Hits/4music/Viva playlist clone then im all for it to launch.

They didnt really do much with that though they showed a trailer loop telling viewers to switch to Chart Show TV for a long number of hours while by day it did play music and it wasnt all that bad as it made use of Flaunt's old videos i even remember it playing alot of dance videos mixed in with it.

OK lets take a look at MTV Dance play list. What are Selena Gomez, Nicole Scherzinger, Usher, Rihanna, Enrique Inglesias and Cheryl Cole doing on a DANCE channel? Just because they draw more viewers, doesn't justify putting RNB/Hip hop/Rap music on a Dance channel. It seems like they aren't fully updated when it comes to EDM music. Armin van Buuren's In & Out of love is still on their B-List, and how old is that now?

Very very true sadly thats the sign of the times a dance music channel now consists of r&b and rap rubbish with very little proper dance music its happening with radio too with galaxy becoming a pop station. And even kiss tv playing loads of r&b and when it first started on sky apart from rapture tv it was one of the best dance music channels sadly all a thing of the past:mad:

And what are they going to replace it with?

Most of the CSC channels are failing to keep up on viewing figures really.

I'd rebrand it MOS Dance with the Ministry of Sound logo maybe in silver. I'd convert the DNTV name onto the schedule to continue to show the likes of DNTV live.

as long as the content stay the same they can rebrand the channel as much as the want, it will fail...
why the hell playing rnb/rap-trash and these untalented pop-**** like cole, saturdays etc on a dance channel?
acts like iglesias, pussycat dolls (and all of their members), pitbull, flo-rida, neyo, bep (and all of their members), rihanna and all the other drug-addicts of the urban-scene have to stay away from any dance channel. a genre music-tv-channel should reflect whats going on in the scene and not playing top40 shit. thats the problem of the uk-dance channels. they do not representing the dance-scene. btw the uk dance top 40 are rubbish too....

100% agree least someone understands my post. :)

Its these channels on sky that set a very bad example for dance music and stop it from progressing keeping people in the past and making them think usa only music .
