Am i the only one that thinks florence and the machine cannot sing!!

Every time i hear her voice i need to wash out my ears. I seriously muted the tv when i heard her. It always sounds like shes drowning or somethin lol.

Well the brits has always been pretty s**t anyway. Americans do it better.

Well done to Lady Gaga though. Now that is well deserved.

I agree Scooby - I would liken her live voice to a cat being strangled really.

Indeed, these awards coupled with half term seem to have brought the lunatics out of the asylum tonight.

    She's a loud bugger, but she's great!

    It's such a strong voice.

You and the OP can speak for yourselves there.

She CAN sing but she's a terrible singer live and I really don't like it when she strains and totally sings a whole tone out. I thought she was much more in tune tonight compared to her TOTP performance.

I've tried to like this woman. She's got a horrible voice - She's the new Melanie C. Over-rated and really hurts my ears. And it was by far one of the most unoriginal albums I listened to half of last year.

She's brilliant in the same way Bjork is brilliant, Dolores is brilliant and Alanis is brilliant.

Not knowing the definition of the word "fact" immediately undermines your argument.

She was great when I saw her live in late 2008 on the NME tour thing. The highlight, though, was actually when she joined White Lies on stage and sang one of their songs.

Didn't bother watching the Brits though so no idea what she was like on that. Hard to really judge live performances by watching them on the TV imo.

The woman is fantastic! If I had half her talent I'd be a very happy lady.

I think she's got a good voice and sounded good live, she sounded like the record and to me, if you sound like the recording then you can sing very well, her voice is nice and strong too and I liked her performance with Dizzee Rascal.

I understand how people might not like Florence's voice, but don't understand at all how people can claim she can't sing. I mean, she quite clearly can :)

She can certainly sing but her tone isn't to my taste at all. It's just very ugly in sound and just not nice to my ears.

Not a fan, but can't deny how good she is.

Not really a FACT though is it. It's basically just you're opinion. yawn.

I think her voice is great :)
Although sometimes it does veer dangerously close to goat-like bleating.

    Florence can't sing: Opinion

    You're welcome.

Exactly what I came here to correct. You can't say "fact" and then claim "opinion"... see what went wrong there!

...and whether you like it or not, if some can hold a note and sing in tune... it means the can sing.
