None of the main channels are showing anything scary and Film 4 is showing The Sixth Sense which although I really like it, i've already seen a few times and I want to watch something new.

I think i'm going to watch The Thing or Se7en.

I want to watch something that I haven't seen before so think I'm going to go for 'The House Of The Devil' followed by episode one of the second season of 'American Horror Story'.

However, if I was just going to play it safe I'd probably end up watching the following flick:

    John Carpenter's Prince Of Darkness

    That movie is so under-rated.

I have a child, so the first Halloween film of the day will be The Nightmare before Christmas, possibly followed by Tim Burtons "Vincent".

Planning also to watch Dark Shadows and The Woman in Black.

As someone who really enjoys foreign horror, I am really looking forward to this one....:)

If you think that one sounds bad, then can I strongly suggest you AVOID a film called "Dumplings"....... ;)

I always watch every Scream film on Halloween - it's tradition! I used to watch them all at least once a month but now I hold off until Halloween, I know people don't think they're scary but they hold a special place in my heart

If you are on a diet try these
Viewers who put themselves through 90 minutes of adrenaline-pumping terror can use up as much as 113 calories, close to the amount burned during a half-hour walk and the equivalent to a chocolate bar.

The University of Westminster study measured the total energy expenditure of ten different people as they watched a selection of frightening movies.

Scientists recorded their heart rate, oxygen intake and carbon dioxide output - and discovered the number of calories used increased by on average a third during the films.

    The top 10:

    1. The Shining: 184 calories

    2. Jaws: 161 calories

    3. The Exorcist: 158 calories

    4. Alien: 152 calories

    5. Saw: 133 calories

    6. A Nightmare on Elm Street: 118 calories

    7. Paranormal Activity: 111 calories

    8. The Blair Witch Project: 105 calories

    9. The Texas Chain Saw Massacre: 107 calories

    10. [Rec]: 101 calories

(looks like positions 8 & 9 are reversed)

My Halloween menu (I haven't seen any of those films recommended by a friend, who's lending me DVDs):

    Dead Silence (US) (2007)
Mientras Duermes (Sleep Tight) (Spanish) (2011)
    Wrong Turn (US) (2004)
    Tesis (Thesis) (Spanish) (1996)
    The Abandoned (Spanish/UK) (2006)
    The Caller (US) (2011)
No Do (The Haunting) (Spanish) (2009)
El Habitante Incierto (The Uninvited Guest) (Spanish) (2004)
    Emergo (Apartment 143) (Spanish) (2011)

I won't watch all on the night, but those are on the menu. I'll probably go for Dead Silence and Wrong Turn, even though the friend insists I should check out Spanish films (he says, I quote, "Spain is currently the heart of good horror/suspense films").

I'm seeing "Silent Hill: Revelation 3D" during the afternoon.

During the evening I'm sitting down with a home-made curry, and cramming as many of my recent DVD/Blu-Ray horror purchases into the evening as I can! :D

    Picking from;
    "Lovely Molly"
    "Rosewood Lane"
    "Chernobyl Diaries"
    "The Lost Coast Tapes"
    "Werewolf: The Beast among us"
    "Attack of the Werewolves"
"Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated" (Collection of newly filmed animated scenes from the 1968 classic)

And if I get chance (as others have mentioned) the first episode of "American Horror Story".

Could be a long night ....

I found a late showing of Little Shop Of Horrors. So I recorded it on my planner to save for Halloween.

A hark at the past for me - recreating BBC 2's old horror double bills with something vintage followed by something a touch newer.

The Fly (orig.), then Triangle. :)

Some interesting choices there. MEAT GRINDER is Thai, not Korean, but as Thai horrors go, it's one of the better ones. Very gory of course, but more of a psychological character drama with it. Poundland are currently doing it for a quid in their Halloween section and it's well worth that.

STORM WARNING is actually an Aussie exploitation movie, and a lot of fun with it. Certainly miles ahead of something like THE LOVED ONES.

Haven't heard of THE DEAD, but it sounds like my sort of thing.

Thanks for that mate - good to hear other people's views - have been really getting into foreign language horror films over the past couple of years. The trailer for "The Dead" is here

I have a few recommendations that you may be interested in, so message me... Also, you may be able to point in the direction of some other decent films.....
