It's still a bit early in the competition but I was wondering what goal so far was the best of the world cup for you?, what freekick? maybe what move?, ... without much doubt I think Gerrard's made the best move of this world cup tonight. ---> http://bit.ly/1q5RH4E

Did you write this with a straight face?

I live close to a sports ground that has the local NP football team and also tennis courts. It is only young men I ever see playing tennis actually, one who lives near me almost daily walks past on his way to the courts with his gear.

Plus, I know of more young girls in my neighbourhood than boys, including a near neighbour who are seriously into football at a competitive level with women's/girls teams, and one who plays on the women's team at the MK Dons stadium!

Your comment gave me a good laugh for being so wide of the mark. :D

Come off it how many lads want to play Tennis, minority game mainly for girls, Wimbledon hugely overdone on BBC. I will make sure as ever I don't see a single shot in the whole event.

Roy Hodgson has set up a friendly match against Iceland to try and cheer fans up after our elimination. If we beat them then we go on to play Tesco's and then Sainsbury's.

A man goes to a brothel and says, "I have £40 will you humiliate me please." The Madam replies, "Here put on this England shirt!"

Teacher to class, "What does your dad do at the weekends?" A little boy replies, "He is a dancer at a Gay club, and sometimes, if the money's right, he goes off with the punters for extra cash after the show" The teacher takes the kid outside, "Is that True?"" No Miss, It's b-ll0cks he is the goalkeeper for England but I am too embarrassed to say."

The England team went to visit an orphanage in Brazil this morning. "It's good to put a smile on the faces of people with no hope, constantly struggling and facing the impossible." said Emilio Di Costa aged six.

My girlfriend came home early last night and nearly caught me looking at the England game. Luckily I managed to put porn on and get my c**k out in time to save any embarrassment.

SKY SPORTS BREAKING NEWS: It has been announced that this year's shirt sponsor for ENGLAND will be TAMPAX. A spokesman said, "To sponsor a load of --nts going through a bad period is exactly what our company is all about."

What's the difference between England and a tea bag? A: The tea bag stays in the cup longer.

Q, What do you call an Englishman in the knockout stages of the World Cup? A: A Referee.

Q: Why was Roy Hodgson speeding? A: To get three points.

Q: Why aren't the England football team allowed to own a dog?
A: Because they can't hold on to a lead.

Illusionist David Blaine was heartbroken that the record he got for doing nothing in a box for 42 days had been beaten by Wayne Rooney in the 2010 World Cup.

    (Best for last) :D
Neymar goes into the Brazilian changing room to find all his team mates looking a bit glum. "What's up?" he asks. "Well, we're having trouble getting motivated for this game. We know it's important but it's only England. They're sh*t and we can't be bothered". Neymar looks at them and says "Well, I reckon I can beat them by myself, you lads go down the pub." So Neymar goes out to play England by himself and the rest of the Brazilian team go off for a few beers. After a few pints they wonder how the game is going, so get the landlord to put the TV on. A big cheer goes up as the screen shows "Brazil 1 (Neymar 10 minutes) - England 0 "
He is beating England all by himself! Anyway, a few more beers later and the game is forgotten until someone remembers "It must be full time now, let's see how he got on" They put the TV on. "Result from the Estadio Do Maracana : Brazil 1(Neymar 10 minutes) - England 1 (Rooney 89 minutes)." They can't believe it, he has single handedly got a draw against England!! They rush back to the Stadium to congratulate him. They find him in the dressing room, still in his gear, sat with his head in his hands.
He refuses to look at them. "I've let you down, I've let you down" "Don't be stupid, you got a draw against England, all by yourself. And they only scored at the very very end!" "No, No, I have, I've let you down!. I got sent off after 12 minutes"

Apparently, the FA refused to talk to TalkSport because of the "negative coverage" the station has provided.

I think that is harsh on Ian Danter, the England reporter, who has been very professional and balanced during this World Cup. If anyone deserved to have an interview from the station it is Dants.

It was only a matter of time until someone did, I am surprised it has taken this long. The anti arsene thing on drivetime is a bit sickening now, but if arsenal stopped giving interviews they would be described as bitter

It's pathetic. How much of an easy ride is Hodgson going to be given? England have failed in Brazil by any yardstick, so if anything, talkSPORT could be going in harder.

The Arsenal thing is different: that is a protracted poisonous campaign that goes way beyond valid criticism and it's to their credit that they continue to cooperate with the station.

Don't get drawn in by the amateur who heads the station Mr Fisher he tweeted that Roy was not talking to the station. He must have thought lets see what maximum publicity we can get from this then has to be told its nonsense yet another own goal by the station bit like their big stand on twitter.

Talksport get the interview they wanted with Roy Hodgson and here it is in full with nothing taken out, they probably only got it after Mark Saggers had said on the station Hodgson was dodging interviews, Hodgson mentions this in the chat with Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy, (I know I know but it's worth the listen if only to hear for yourselves how a man can f*ck up a World Cup after two years preparation with an entire country like England to choose from and not in any way take any blame himself for it) anyway Hodgson seemed less than pleased about it so I don't think Saggers will be getting too many more interviews with this England manager.

I saw your post last night and was quite surprised to read this, particularly as I'd just heard Roy Hodgson's interview on The Sports Bar which Billy has kindly uploaded above, so I had a look online (on Twitter and the like) to see what had happened and it seems to me as if the problem was specifically with Mark Saggers rather than with Ian Danter or anyone else from talkSPORT.

What seems to have happened is that Saggers had previously accused Hodgson of "shirking" interviews in the wake of the Uruguay game, and either Hodgson has heard this for himself or someone else has drawn his attention to it. It's something Roy's clearly aware of as he mentions Saggers by name, refutes this accusation and says it's "knocked me back for six" in that interview with Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy (you can hear this from about 7:00-7:30 in the first part of the interview Billy has uploaded above). Hodgson refused to speak to talkSPORT at the conclusion of the Costa Rica game (the problem hadn't arisen before then, as Danter had been conducting interviews in the England camp in the build-up to the match), but after complaints were made by to them (per Henry Winter), The FA arranged Roy's live interview with The Sports Bar at short notice while the squad was changing planes in Rio. Pretty odd turn of events all round, apparently it's been put down to a "misunderstanding."

What happened certainly wouldn't have been anything personal regarding Danter, who as you say has been professional and balanced and, if anything, one of the more supportive voices regarding Hodgson since England's exit. Indeed a few days ago The FA were happy to endorse Danter's involvement in one of the Vauxhall fans forums on their official Twitter feed, so I highly doubt they have any issue with him. The temporary Hodgson "ban" is not something he mentioned on Twitter or during his "England insider" bit on Extra Time with Mike Graham, although he has cleared a few things up about it on his blog: http://www.iandanter.co.uk/blogs/tlotldr-world-cup-blog-day-24-24th-june-2014

I think most listeners would agree talkSPORT has been remarkably easy on Roy Hodgson and the team considering the massive disappointment of being eliminated early again in the World Cup, I actually think they've been far far too lenient on them and yet the FA have the gall to have a go at the station for being too critical.
This is the real crunch of the problem though isn't it, THE FA, how are we ever going to employ a good international team manager while ever they are picking the candidate?. I want Hodgson out now straight away but all that will happen if he is topped is they'll set yet another badge & blazer geezer on in his place and the circus will go on and on and on and on............................................................... :(

Being eliminated from this World Cup quicker than getting over a common cold was a massive disappointment even though most of us knew full well we'd do absolutely nothing again when we got there but at the very least it gave Sleeper and his fellow clans up in Jockland one hell of a laugh that they'll not forget for a long time. :(
Laugh aloud heartedly while your eating yer haggises and drinking your cans of Youngers Best Bitter McJocks but remember this at least we got there. :p

They haven't Bill, they've been having a go at him (Saggers, Quinn, Durham, Goldstein, Graham, Parry and several journalists). It's deserved, we live in a results business and I'm not fussed if he stays or goes now, it's just that TS don't really know what they want from an England manager.

From what I've heard, Dants has been balanced and Cundy's been quite positive. Most seem livid at what has happened.

I think that's correct and it would set a dangerous precedent if rights holders have to try and paint a rosy picture of England's football team in order to secure an interview with the England manager or players.

Other pundits such as Alan Shearer, Robbie Savage & Chris Waddle have been far harsher on them yet nobody is refusing the BBC an interview. Nobody expected England to win the World Cup but the performances in the group stage were feeble (apart from a short spell against Italy). There are no positives from the match against Costa Rica, it was just more of the same.

Okay Joe I've obviously missed these broadcasts so thanks for putting me right there there are many shows I won't listen too now and some I will but simply have missed this past few days so I find it good to learn from you that at least some talkSPORT presenters have aired their true feelings about our pathetic elimination.
I've heard a lot of the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast Show just recently since the World Cup started, Alan Brazil and just about everyone on that show has been very easy on Hodgson and the players generally and then just hearing Goldstein in that interview this morning cosying up to Hodgson I think must have clouded my judgement somewhat.
I knew that Collymore and Saggers had blown their tops and I'm happy they did because people should do after such a pathetic offering.

Saggers aside, I think it's mostly been a case of those presenters not involved in the live coverage - Hawksbee & Jacobs, Goldstein, Parry & Graham - who have been most critical of Roy Hodgson and the England team. You highlighted Danter, Collymore, Cundy, Alvin Martin and Matt Holland as more reasoned voices, I would add Stuart Pearce to that list - while he was critical of attitudes towards age-group football, his comments were well explained and he wasn't pointing fingers at particular individuals - as well as chief commentator Jim Proudfoot. I've not heard strong opinions expressed about England by talkSPORT's other lead commentators who haven't covered them.

Roy Hodgson's interview with The Sports Bar was quite strained last night. I personally felt Andy Goldstein and Jason Cundy were playing a bit of a good cop, bad cop routine when alternating the questions they were asking between themselves. Goldstein seemed to ask the more difficult questions, with Cundy posing the more positive ones. It was noticeable that after Goldstein asked that awkward question which riled Hodgson and lead to him mentioning Mark Saggers, Cundy followed up by asking an overly positive question about England's young players.

I also thought they both were trying to put words into Kenny Samson's mouth when they were talking to him, I must also say I thought he sounded as tho he was looking to bring them both a 'fish supper' into tS towers

Luis Suarez has given his first interview since allegedly biting Italian defender Giorgio Chiellini during their crucial World Cup clash. ;-)

The BBC don't encourage their presenters to rant and rave all the time. It's probably the tone rather than the actual words the FA object to.

I'd love to know what people within the game really think of TS.

Does anyone really think FIFA will do anything about Suarez? Really? They won't do anything, mostly because they want him in the World Cup but also if they try to boot him out, there will be a legal case and an appeal that will go on past the World Cup.

My money is on them saying it's not conclusive. For example were the bite wounds checked by a doctor and properly photographed with the ref or other FIFA officials present? If not then no court could ever find Suarez guilty, so any appeal would be upheld.

They'll ban him for 4 months from any form of football worldwide..

Probably lucky to only get that.

I too think they'll have to ban him, they'll not want to of course because he's in the top 3 of the best current players in the world and they'll want him on show at the biggest tournament on earth but the entire world saw what he did, the referee saw the actual marks on Giorgio Chiellini's shoulder I don't think there's any lack of conclusive evidence that can be offered in his defence.
I don't like him I never have, he's a fantastic player, I would be excited to see him play myself but he has one big fault he switches off from being what he really is into some kind of wild primitive animal when riled I think he needs psychological treatment.

I suspect many involved in football regard talkSPORT for what it is, if it was a national newspaper talkSPORT would be the Daily Sport, they get the people they do from the top clubs because any form of publicity is good publicity is always the way. Regarding the presenters we all know why all those are there it's because they're either BBC rejects or they wouldn't have a hope in hell of ever being employed by the Beeb.

If half of them were ever approached by the BBC they wouldn't have to think twice before they were off.

Sorry Billy - I wrote 4 months because its officially how long he has been banned for (from all football)

As I say because its the 3rd time I guess Suarez could quite himself lucky to not get longer.

I'm amazed FIFA had the balls to ban him, I really am. They finally grew a set. Let's see what happens if they decide to appeal.
